Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
I just tried enabling Driver Verifier and rebooting made me fail Start up and had me System restore before Verifier was enabled
Wait, it had you system restore? It should just cause a BSOD at startup after you've finished setting up DV and restarting the PC. This will provide us the necessary crashdump needed to check this. Are you able to send us that crashdump?
Yeah, when it rebooted, it started a Startup Repair and pretty much had it system restore right before verifier was enabled. There was no BSOD.
Blue screen programs can only give an answer from the information it has been given. If there was a program that could tell you exactly caused the problem then there would be a program that would fix it for you.
The person that develops those programs will be able to retire.
The current programs just give us clues and every once in a while it will give us the answer.
volsnap.sys is Windows Volume Shadow Copy Driver, if SFC didn't find anything then it may be caused by another driver or hardware.
Uninstall Skype and test for stability, if stable then re-install Skype. If it still is a problem you need to find a previous version of skype.
If it takes 5 days then you have a problem.
Testing hardware can be time consuming, now you know why computer shops charge so much for working on computers.
These tests are crucial and need to be completed, if you don't have the time or patience then you should consider taking it to a computer shop for tests.
Run the SeaTools long generic until it finishes, with a 1.5TB drive it will take a while, possibly 12 hours or more. The previous Crystal Disk info is showing some errors, SeaTools may be able to repair the problems and this, of coarse, will take longer to complete.
You mentioned you don't have anything to boot the DOS SeaTools from, get a CD or DVD, better to put it on a USB memory stick.
SeaTools will run faster from DOS as the Windows OS will not be running.
Let us know the results or if you have any questions.
Good catch on the 5-day scan, Dave (can't give ya rep :| ). I definitely concur on getting DOS Seatools going. If it takes just as long or starts bugging out, then you have drive issues. Use Parted Magic as a means to backup stuff to an external drive or another PC via network if at all possible.
I passed the long generic test, took about 14 hours. Is there any risks in using Seatools for DOS?
No risk, it will be a little faster.
You download the DOS version, burn it to a disk, put disk into the computer, re-start and catch the BIOS boot options, select the DVD to boot from.
It will start SeaTools and run the test, this way the Windows OS is not running and the program can run faster.
Is your system still crashing with Skype?

Ehhh, I give up, I'll just not use Skype on the computer. Thanks for the help guys.
Your welcome for the help.
It might be as easy as un-installing Skype and then re-installing it, worth a try and won't take long.
Your choice, of coarse.
