just randomly BSOD while playing an oldish game but has been fine playing any game for over a month,

As far as I am seeing, it is crashed by the display driver, despite of it being the latest one.

In such a situation, you may need to roll it back to the earlier stable version.

Download and install Driver Fusion.
Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Drivers > Beta and Legacy; search there with your cards particulars for GeForce 306.23 Driver, dated 13.9.2012 and install it.

Take some hardware tests, too, just to be sure that it is not being caused by those hardware components:

► Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight, per RAM module per slot.

► Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

that driver 306.23 i had issues with it would randomly crash the driver but then recover error, the only driver to date that has not done that is the one i am now using but then this BSOD happened after having this driver since release of it, i will do the other tests as you have instructed ty :)

Do it later when you can; and if the driver I mentioned is problematic to you, you need not to use it.

Try the furmark test now.

just did the Furmark burn test until the temps leveled out at 80-81c using the MSI gtx 660ti there was no fragmenting at all no glitches.
GPU core mhz in the range of 1097-1136
GPU memory clock mhz stead solid at 1502.3
Temps started at 31c idle before test and raised to 80-81c where they stabilized and held solid for 10minutes
max fan speed was 50% -2190RPM
Memory used - 184
GPU load 99%
memory controlled load range 73-76%
Video engine load 0%
power consumption range 85-93% TDP
VDDC [V] range - 1.0870-1.1250

If memtest also finds nothing, then the problem is definitely with the driver. Either you have to get some elder one, or wait for another update from nvidia.

But, to be sure, we need to run memtest.

Let us know when you are done with memtest.

new problem :S
the vidia card locked up and then screen went black and said no signal, Memtest was clean also
