BSOD, restart, no Boot device found

After about 5 minutes, my PC freezes or goes BSOD (briefly). When I restart, no Boot Device is found "Reboot and Select proper Boot device". When I check the bios, it doesn't recognise the SSD (VertexII) that sits in Sata slot 1. The HDD that sits in Sata slot 3 is recognized. After rebooting a couple off times, everything works fine... for about 5 minutes.

I run Win7 Ultimate SP1 x64 on a Intel Core 2 due E7400 @2.80 with 2 GB of RAM. The OS is installed on the SSD, with a seperate partition for the other programs. All data is on the seperate HDD. All drivers are kept up to date (except for video card drivers: Recent -/- 1 version). I use no overclock and 4 coolers keep things nice and cool. ACPI is set in Bios

    All cables are connected.

    Does anyone have a clue?

Hello Erwin and welcome to Seven Forums.

It would help if you could provide a dump file. They are really nice to have when analyzing BSODs.

In the meantime, a couple of things you can try to correct this annoying problem. You may be able to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to the first BSOD by using a system restore point.

    System Restore

I'd next run a full scan with your installed anti-malware suite. No anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it. So I recommend running a couple more on-demand scanners (all free.) Some of the ones recommend on this Forum are:

    Malwarebytes

    ESET Online Scanner

    Windows Defender Offline

I'd now check for any damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems (integrity violations) are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You may need to do all of the above by accessing Safe Mode from the Advanced Boot Options menu.

    Safe Mode

And finally, a couple of tutorials for startup issues and general troubleshooting.

I had a bad power supply. Problem remained after switching SSD. To be sure, I changed all other components too ;-)
