No BSOD but system keeps on randomly shutting down

Hi, I know this is a BSOD thread but I didn't know where else to post

I have probably a slightly above average knowledge of PCs, I have put together a few in the past, and usually if I encounter a problem I can work it out/check out a forum. This however has stumped me, the pc just powers down with no warning, and I can't seem to see what triggers it. The temperature is fine, about 20C.

I read somewhere that it might be the RAM, or the sockets for the RAM, but both RAM and motherboard were bought new recently. A forum I looked at suggested booting up with memtest+ and letting it have 6 or 7 passes to check the RAM for errors, but 1 pass took over an hour (no errors). I only did one as I didn't know without talking to someone if I was wasting 6 hours of my time.

Thanks in advance for looking into this for me, I have included the SF file in the upload

    Code:
    DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)

    Probably caused by : HDAudBus.sys

    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\HDAudBus.sys
        Image name: HDAudBus.sys
        Timestamp: Sat Nov 20 10:43:42 2010 (4CE7A65E)
    HDAudBus.sys - Driver Reference Table

Have you installed all the Important and Optional Windows Updates?

All Important updates installed, I am downloading and insalling the Optional ones now.

So should I uninstall/reinstall that driver?

    Thanks again

I would run Driver Verifier first, Windows drivers are rarely the cause of BSODs, it's usually a third-party driver; have you checked your Device Manager for any small yellow warnings or red errors next to the devices listed?

Remember to show all the hidden devices also, please post a screenshot of your Device Manager.

    Thanks for installing the updates.

Okay Driver Verifier is running, no BSODs yet. I will leave the system running and come back to it on Monday (this is my friend's work PC and I have to leave it now)

Here is a screenshot of Device Manager, no warnings, errors or anything untoward as far as I can see

    Cheers

Thanks for uploading the screenshots, and please upload the dump files, if you receive any BSODs from the Driver Verifier.

Okay, I have come back to the PC this afternoon, when I left it on Saturday I had just turned driver verifier on and I had to leave so I put internet radio on just so it was doing something to try and get a BSOD.

It was off when I got to it, I have switched driver verifier off, I have looked in the windows folder for any .dmp files and there is only one BUT it is from the 6th of November, when the problem started and it is massive 477mb. Should I still upload it? Or will the SF Diagnostic Tool have given you the data from that already?

    Cheers :)

The file won't upload, it must be too big (130mb zipped), the page keeps timing out after about 2%, and after trying a couple of times the internet connection went down despite being connected via ethernet. It then shut off again and will only stay on for a short time (maybe this is the key to the problem??) I have my smartphone and an old laptop here and they both connect to my network fine.

I have copied the file to a usb stick and attempted to upload it from the laptop but again the connection timed out. If I can upload it some other way can I send you a link?

I have also tried banging my head against a wall several times but this hasn't helped either

Are you uploading attempting to upload the dump file and nothing else?
