BSOD three times in succession while doing random things

    Hello everyone,
I bought and assembled my computer over a year ago now, and have never had any problems. (it bluescreened once while trying to overclock, but no problems since)
System specs are in my profile

However, two days ago I got a bluescreen while playing an emulator. Since it was a dirty build of the emulator, I assumed it was a software bug, and restarted. When I restarted my PC, it bluescreened again.

The next day, it apparently crashed when I was having dinner, and I did not see this happening.

Just now, it bluescreened again, while doing nothing in particular, browsing the web and listening to music.

if you need any additional info, please say so and I will post it as soon as I can!

I would appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Hello Phasair, please zip it properly, and post it again, following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions?

Unfortunately the zips are not being extracted.

I figured out what went wrong. The program put the files in D:\Users\xxx\desktop, not in C:\Users\xxx\desktop.

I got it now, and attached it to this post (i'll also attach it to the OP)
    apologies for the confusion

    Perform some disc checks.

    1. Update your SSD's Firmware (skip it, if it is not a SSD)
    2. Reseat the sata and power.
    3. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
    4. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.

Get rid of Marvell MV91xx AHCI/RAID driver

    1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
    2. It will open the "computer management" window.
    3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
    4. Expand "Disc Drives" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    5. Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
    6. Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
    7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.

    Update display driver.

Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

    Let us know the results.

Well, I tried to install the SSD update, but it came up with "windows failed to start" "file: \gldr.mbr" "status: oxc000000f" I tried removing all other disks, and windows wouldn't boot anymore. I think it's because the boot partition is actually on my harddisk for some reason. I guess I'm going to have to reinstall windows.

    Follow it:
Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Or, run Startup Repair for three separate times, with restarts after every single run.
Startup Repair: Run three separate times.

I guess it will work. Let us know.

Thanks so much! The third link worked awesomely, and I upgraded my ssd firmware without a hitch!

My graphics drivers are already up to date, I uninstalled avast, and I'm currently running disk checks.
    Thanks again!

    Good news. :)
Let us know the results ... how the computer is running.

You need not to run Seatools right now, OK? As the firmware is successfully updated.

should I still uninstall the marvell driver? Also, my computer is running great, but I don't exactly know what you mean with "how my computer is running"...? I guess I'll post here if I get another BSOD

also, I have the marvell driver in program files, with an uninstall link... would it work if I just uninstall it through there?

Marvell drivers are not anything good, and those are crash prone. As long as they are there, there are some chances of further crashes; whereas msahci.sys (the default one) never crashes.

Final decision is obviously your, but it is my suggestion to not use Marvell.

Lol ... I meant, if there is any subsequent crash, let us know :), ok?
