BSOD while running Sibelius 7

Good morning everyone:

I experienced a BSOD while running Sibelius 7. The zipped error report is attached. I've had a BSOD on this computer before, but not while running Sibelius.

These are my specs: Windows 7 64 professional SP1, quadcore pentium IV, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB system drive, two 3 TB sample drives / documents. The software I run on this computer is mostly pro music / audio / video editing (Sibelius, Pro Tools, Avid Media Composer, Reaper, Adobe Creative suite).

What does it mean? Anything I should be looking out for? I'm not too upset about a BSOD once in a while but it is usually a sign that something isn't quite right, correct?

I checked the installed version of Windows 7, and Service Pack 1 is installed (as well as the most recent updates).

"Macdrive" is a program to read drives formatted on a mac; I installed a trial version but it wasn't really working for me, and I uninstalled it again. Is there any residual that I should uninstall (which caused crashes)?

About the bio, this is a relatively old computer (2008) with this motherboard:
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P35-S3G (rev. 1.0)

How can I find the bios update? There is a general page, here:

I'm not extremely technical and a bit scared that I'll do something disastrous ... this is my backup DAW, my primary DAW is already in the shop for an expensive motherboard repair, if this one goes out of business then I am big trouble.

The motherboard bio update exe file appears as a 7z file in my downloads folder, when I double click it, it unzips it to a file folder containing three files: autoexec, FLASHPI and P35S3G.F5. That is a little weird - think I'll leave it alone.

I don't have any macs or mac programs on this computer, it was an 'experiment' to see if I could use my G RAID drives through a firewire connection for faster transfer speeds (they are both 4 TB, I have two of them for backup and to run large audio / video files). They are preformatted for mac and work on this windows computer as well, though only through USB 2. Macdrive didn't seem to make any difference so I just left it alone and uninstalled the program.

That CCleaner program is quite nice; I am running it now on one of my other PCs (vista laptop, an HP Pavilion from 2007) to do a cleanup. It comes with a laundry list of things it wants to remove, from Office 2007 to Adobe Acrobat 10, skype, Quicktime, Real Player, Windows Media Player. I am using those programs; what is the deal here? This is not some kind of malware program, is it?

Have you installed Service Pack 1? You need post what you have done and haven't done, to give everyone an understanding of which suggestions you have followed and if they have helped or not.

The issue with Sibelius seems to have been fixed, but now I have a issue with Pro Tools 10.

Hm - I tried it once again this morning, but still get the BSOD.

To recap, I already did the following:

• Install windows 7 service pack 1
• Install all windows updates
• Reinstall the latest driver for my soundcard (m audio profire 2626)
• Install CCleaner and did a disk cleanup and registry cleanup. I only cleared those registry errors that referenced M audio, not all the others; I am not sure what they do and am a bit hesitant to make changes to the registry if I am not sure that they do.

To recap, I get the BSOD when I start up Pro Tools and try to switch the audio device to my M Audio profire 2626. Running Sibelius is fine now (maybe I should change the title of the thread).

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful. I attach the latest zipped crash log.

All the BSODs pointed to SoundTap Streaming Audio Recorder (see the above link for more information); I recommend uninstalling this program.

I looked in the list of installed programs (both from the windows Control Panel and using CCleaner), but I can't SoundTap Streaming Audio Recorder anywhere. Can't see it either when I bring up All Programs?

Is there another way I can get rid of the program?

I recognize the name NCH Software; they're an Australian company, I bought a license for their video screen capture software program (Debut). When installing that it installed a lot of other bloatware too, this must be one of them. I *hate* it when that happens, especially if I pay money for a license, but that is a whole different discussion.
