    Crashing Overnight

    Good Morning All,

I often leave my computer on overnight to carry out download on uTorrent.

I close all other apps, and just leave uTorrent open.

However, I often come down in the morning to find my computer shut down, and when I boot it up it gives me the option to 'Start Windows Normally' and all that stuff.

What could be causing these errors? I checked Event Viewer and saw this:

    - System

    - Provider

    [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
    [ Guid] {331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4}

    EventID 41

    Version 2

    Level 1

    Task 63

    Opcode 0

    Keywords 0x8000000000000002

    - TimeCreated

    [ SystemTime] 2012-11-16T08:26:25.476408800Z

    EventRecordID 60533

    Correlation

    - Execution

    [ ProcessID] 4
    [ ThreadID] 8

    Channel System

    Computer Tom-PC

    - Security

    [ UserID] S-1-5-18

Can anyone help my diagnose the problem?

    Cheers,
    Tom

We will need more information than what you have posted. Try running this diagnostic tool, then upload the file to this thread so we can look at it:

There is no blue screen though, as when I boot up I don't get the popup with the blue screen info?

    Check C:\Windows\Minidump

    Are there any files present?

Go ahead and run that tool I suggested earlier and attach the results.

Have you checked the machine for malware?

I was just thinking... if the computer is shutting off completely hardware is most likely at play, which would explain the lack of a BSoD as well. Your computer is custom built right? The first thing I would check is the PSU... although if those are bad, they don't usually shut off over night--they usually cause all sorts of strange power issues. My suggestion at this point would be leaving it on overnight in safe mode and seeing if it still shuts down.

BSODs can still occur, even when a hardware component is faulty or has failed (Stop 0x124 is a good example)

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Has Windows been configured to create a dump file?

Have you performed a malware scan? What anti-virus programs are you using?

No information is showing in your .NFO file for some reason Could you please upload it again:

    Start > Type: msinfo32 > File, Save
