Thanks. I'm up to date (or close to it) for the display drive but don't think i've ever updated the chipset driver and am doing now...as for the bios, I have looked for the latest but I think I already have it.

One question, would this problem affect booting as well?

May be. Or something else. What is the problem you are having during booting?

Sometimes a cmos checksum error, sometimes a message saying can't find the bios. Doesn't happen often but seems to be connected to these bsod as they happen around the same time.

Did you run the virus scans I suggested in #26 , and they found nothing, for sure?

Scan the system for possible virus infection.
Please confirm it. If so, I need to ask for more help here.

You can try replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard, it may help, just have to try it.

Do some general USB troubleshooting. For the port, first, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports drivers as follows:
  1. Right click on Computer icon > manage. It will open the computer management window.
  2. Click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, it will list all installed devices up.
  3. Expand "USB Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  4. Click on one item to select, then right click and uninstall.
  5. Do the same for all.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate drivers.
And, Disable USB Selective Suspense too.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.

Let us know the results.

BSOD when booting up
Hi, a friend of mine recently lend another friend's laptop. When the unit came back, my friend said it won't boot normally. The laptop flashes BSOD for a split second (or a quarter of second. The thing is it doesn't let me see the error code) then restarts. I tried booting into safe mode. It loads...

BSOD after booting into 7
Working on a Dell Inspiron N7110 running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. The computer will boot into Windows fine, but after about 30 seconds to a minute it will blue screen and reboot. Unfortunately my computer's hard disk has failed on me. Fortunately I did create an image (using Acronis TrueImage Home) shortly before disk failure. The OS is Windows 7 (32-bit), and the image includes the system partition, Windows 7's system reserved partition and the master boot record. Since...
