Best way to analyze dmp files

Are there programs that can read the dmp files? Is there certain things to look for in the dmp file if you can read them? What is the most common thing that causes the BSOD? Hardware or software?

Hello, I would like to learn to analyze myself the BSoD dump. The reason is because I work as a PC technician and it's not uncommon that a client call me complaining about a blue screen. The fact is that I would like to get independent and not have to upload the files here at the BSOD section...
