Is there a BIOS update? If not reset the BIOS to defaults. Set SATA controller to AHCI, save changes and exit.
Where did you get your installation media? I'd eliminate that as possibility by using the latest official installer in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, wiping the HD as suggested first. Check performance this time before starting updates.
If you tried another HD that would eliminate HD.
That would leave the mobo, installer or bad program or update.
The installer that I used I got from your post. Downloaded both x86 and x64. Figured if one failed I could try the other. I'll try the x64 tomorrow.
Over the weekend, my friends apparently banded together and bought me a new MoBo, Memory, and CPU. Ever since replacing those parts, then re-installing 64-bit windows... its been rock solid. All of the windows updates have installed without issue. NO BSODS!

Yes, I still think something was bugging out on either the motherboard or the CPU. RAM didn't appear to be involved here. If you have the bad parts still, you could always test it out in some other separate configuration, but for the most part, if it's no longer an issue, no need dealing with it. I still think it's worth getting into for possible part replacements so your money wasn't totally ill-spent.
