1 random BSOD per day

I'm running Windows 7 home premium, 64 bits.

I get one (and only one) BSOD each day, no discernable pattern. The BCC code is different each time. Last time it was c5, the time before that it was 50.

It's been happening for a while now, so I no longer remember if the timing coincides with any Windows updates.

I ran memtest86 based on some info I found from googling one of the bcc codes, and it passed 10 times with no errors.

AVG tends to cause BSOD-s on some systems. I'd suggest you to uninstall it and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to test.

Please uninstall DAEMON Tools. It uses a driver called sptd.sys which is known to cause BSODs in Windows 7. Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Reboot the system. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.

As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or Magic ISO

ok. I updated the storage driver, got rid of daemon tools, and disabled AVG. Also, thanks for that AMD autodetect. I was relying on Steam to tell me when there's an update, and apparently that's not reliable because it was telling me I was up to date when I evidentally wasn't.

I've had 3 days without a crash now. One of these days I'll enable AVG again so I can confirm that it was the culprit (I suspect it was). Thank you!

Oh, I'm sorry. The point became moot because my HD died a few days after that and I had to replace it. Whatever the problem was is gone along with everything else I ever had... (I know, I should have backed it all up....)
