    Sony Vaio BSOD - ntoskrnl

I have been having a difficult time with BSOD on my 2 year old Vaio laptop. The first blue screen appeared seemingly out of nowhere one afternoon while using the machine all morning. During troubleshooting, all of the subsequent BSOD occur shortly after startup. The only thing that changed on the system during the day of the first occurrence was a Windows update. I restored the computer to the settings prior to that update but did not solve the issue. Often these errors occur even while in Safe Mode while troubleshooting. I have downloaded the dmp file tool and included the files captured by that diagnostic tool. From my limited experience, it appears the error is related to the ntoskrnl.exe. This is very frustrating and hope I can resolve the issue. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I see Microsoft has a .NET Framework 4.5 available for download. Is that the version I need to update to?

Also, I will run the driver verifier later today and report back.

Yes. Driver verifier tests the drivers and BSOD if it has found a faulty driver.

    Please post back the dumps

Ok, I have updated .net framework to 4.5. Also ran driver verifier per the attached instructions. I did not physically see verifier do anything, but thought I understood that it would be done behind the scenes. I have actually been operating in normal mode for the majority of the evening and only had two BSOD. One was during initial startup and one was at the start of a reboot. I have included a new dump file.

    Uninstall/update sony power manager program.

Note: Still MS framework is still causing a BSOD.

Try to disable it from start up menu

    Code:

I updated the power management program from Sony. Also think I got the MS framework disabled from startup. Here is a new set of dump files. Thanks!

Power manager is still responsible for one of crash.

Try disabling that service from start up.

Get rid of intel rapid storage.

    1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
    2. It will open the "computer management" window.
    3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
    4. Expand "Disc Drives" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    5. Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
    6. Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
    7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.

    ► update the network driver.
Atheros network adapter driver: ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)
Marvell Yukon networking driver: Marvell - Support

First, download the network card driver from manufactuer's website.
    Then reinstall the driver:

    1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
    2. Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
    3. Right click your network card and click Uninstall.
    4. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.
    5. Restart the computer
    6. If windows does not auto configure the appropriate drivers at startup, install the downloaded one manually.

I removed PM from startup and rebooted. Got a BSOD while running dump file tool. I am running Memtest now and will reply back with results from that and latest dump files.
