Ok so it's been a few days now with no problems at all! I have been playing farcry 3 and other demanding games and tasks and not had any issues! I think it must have been the psu or maybe a combination of the psu and the things we've done! I will mark this thread as solved when you guys think I should! You have been great and i know who and where to seek help from in the future

    Thank you

Mark it as solved when you think it is solved. I am glad we helped and will all be right here if you have problems in the future. Glad you have it running the way you like.

Dakka did you reset the bios back to the defaults... I hope you remember we had changed the settings while troubleshooting the graphics card..

Could you reset them back to the default and check again

Is the new drive a slave disk or... The master. Did you reinstall windows again on the new disk

It seems to be ok now! The hdd I put in was a 1 terabyte hdd that was totally full! I've deleted 90% of the things on there now though! I have ordered a new mobo, case and processor anyway so either way it will be sorted soon! They was for a new build but at least I will have more compatible parts to test things properly! I can't go taking my misses' or daughters pc's to bits to try as it would void they're warranties! If they don't fix the issue then it's my graphics card so I will leave this thread open until I have put it all together when it gets here and report back!

Do you have drives attached via IDE/PATA? There should be no slave/master relationship with SATA.

Since I put the gpu in this new build there have been no issues guys! Apart from quite a long boot process! Event viewer shows an error everytime I boot! It hangs for about a minute after logging on before it starts but after that its all fast! I'm thinking that my mobo was bad on the problem pc, as I have not had a bsod on this one with the same ram and gpu in it!
