So what should I do? I never dealt with drivers before so I am a bit new to this.
Whatever manufacturer made your system (Dell, HP, etc.), you'll want to go to their website's tech support and locate that page specific for your system and download the updated drivers they have listed for that machine then install them, especially the ones related to your wireless network and bluetooth.
but my laptop is a custom built with hp. I cannot find the type of device it even is.

Can you tell us the model of the HP laptop ? We could then locate the right driver for you .
It was a custom built based on the dv7 pavilion
So this is what happens when I update my driver
Did you manage to locate the driver?
Update your System Specifications with Speccy, and then copy this information into your System Specifications: Go to your UserCP, and then select Edit System Spec in the left pane. Copy the information from Speccy into the required fields. These System Specifications will then follow your every post.
