Absolutely. Two GTX 260s won't stress this PSU at all. All that would really be needed for that is a 650W power supply.
Here's why I am apprehensive about this PSU, particularly Thermaltake TR2 units:
On Thermaltake PSUs
(This is a an article on Overclock.net, which is actually my stomping grounds. The author of this article is their resident PSU expert)
Here is a thread I found on OCN: How is this PSU? Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850W
The guy who replied named "Shub" is another PSU expert.
Another one from Shub (direct link to his reply): Corsair TX750V2 vs Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850W
Regardless, I have a few questions:
- How did you determine that the video card died? What video card was it?
- Have you had any new BSODs since removing the 1.8V memory?
- Have you been able to flash the motherboard's BIOS?
koolKat No more BSOD
Twocables thanks just wanted to make sure
1 Video card was over heating and then the screen started flicking and after a coolong off the was no video after reboot. I took it out and reinserted in the slot still no video
2 No bSOD since removing. 1.8 Vmemory in fact replaced with cpmpatable memory at 2.1
3. no I did not flash bios based on the theroy if it ain't broke don't fix it. There is a bio update available
Good to hear it's stable now.
Update the thread if you have more.
Aside to TwoCables: Thanks for your input.
Thanks for the help and the info on the PSU interesting. I'll keep in mind when I build my next rig thanks
I have a real passion for helping people pick new PSUs, so I'll always be here for you if you build a new rig. Of course, there is Overclock.net too - but I don't want to take too much away from SevenForums.
