BSOD in Sony Vaio with KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

Haha. Last time I tried making an omelette on a Lenovo, it spill all over so overly careful this time :) Thanks for your suggestions; this forum was a lifesaver.

I did manage to reseat the RAM, reseating HDD in Vaio required opening a hell lot of tiny screws so I did try to push it a bit without opening all screws. No blue screen so far but I am going to run the memtest, fingers crossed. I dont remember mishandling it except that it is mostly on my lap and it has traveled a lot with me.

Will wait for an update :)

I just finished running 8 passes of memtest86+ and (thankfully) no errors were found.

However, I had a BSOD again yesterday while streaming a video. I looked at the following thread suggested by you and underclocked my NVIDIA card using EVGA precision and I was able to see the video-stream without blue screen.

In that particular thread, the problem was because of playing games and I NEVER play games on my laptop. I assume the graphics requirement are high while gaming but I do not see why this would be in my case when I mostly do Browsing and YouTubing. I think there is something wrong with NVIDIA Geforce 410m card. I do see an update on the Sony website that should cure some of these issues but it is not applicable to my model VPCEH25EN and I am not sure if I should use that. As a side note, I purchased my computer in India so my model is listed in Sony Asia and not in the Sony USA website.

Well, I will update more when I get the Blue screen again. I pray that never happens :)

Haha, few days back, just when I thought the problem has been solved, the blue screen happened when I considered closing this thread as "solved" (literally) Thanks for asking though. So, well, I reseat my HDD again, this time by taking it out completely, and it is good so far for almost a week now. However, the laptop is still kind of slow also because I have reduced the clock speed.

I am yet to find the root cause of this problem. My working hypothesis is blue screen occurs (in my case) if the HDD is loose and I run lots of graphics. The system throws exceptions with NVIDIA drivers, while the actual problem lies with the hard drive. Does it make sense? The other possibility is some hardware problem is with my graphic card and the underclocking is indeed required to make it work. I am doing both (underclocking and reseating hard drive), but I think the former is true in my case.

How long has it been since a clean install?

Probably a clean install will help?

I did re-install Windows two weeks ago to factory settings but using Vaio restore after formatting entire filesystem. I will definitely try it using the instructions on the link you sent next time. Thanks
