Reboot or freeze randomly, tried for 2 month

    Hi,

I just got a second hand gaming PC but i'm experiencing some weird problem. So this is the computer :

    Amd phenom II X4 635 @ 2900 mhz
    Amd 785g
    ATI RADEON 5700
    4g of ram
    1T hard drive

First, when i got the pc, there was no hard drive so i got a new one and installed a clean version of Windows 7 ultimate 64x.

When the installation ended and all the driver was installed I tried to run the windows experience test just for fun but... I got an error like

" cannot complet windows experience video " - Problem number 1

I thought it was weird but I tried to install BF2, after the installation and 5 minutes of gaming, the computer just reboot... So there is where my search for a solution started.

I browse the web and tried almost everything I found. This is the result.

1 - Computer overheats? - Tried speecy (After a random reboot)
    - Processor : 19 Celsius
    - Motherboard : 34 Celsius
    - Video card : 35 Celsius
It's seems like it's not overheating

2 - Up to date driver ? - I installed the latest driver from ATI

3 - Outdated bios? - I updated the bios, i fell like there is less random reboot but it keep happening and it's very frustrating

4 - Ram problem? - Run memtest for hourssss
    No problem detected

5 - Even if there were no problem detect, i removed a stick of ram just to try and i never put it back but nothing changed

    What’s happen in details:

The computer sometime get freeze for about 1 or 2 minutes for no reason. Example, I’m browsing the web and then I can only move the mouse cursor and I clicking on everything will make no action until it unfreeze and everything get normal.

About the reboot, that's happen even when I don’t try to play. Just chillin' in my windows files and BOOM, reboot.

Since I updated my bios, the computer reboot on the onboard video card (after a random reboot) when it was supposed to boot on the ATI card where my monitor is connected to. So i need to reboot it with the reset button to get it back on the ati video card.

So is there somebody on this forum that can help me to solve this problem? I will do everything you will tell me at the best of my knowledge. I'm not bad in computer in general i have assembled 2 computer in my life and those two keep working today so i can do a lot of manipulation if needed.

Thanks for your help and sorry for this long thread... I'm desperate, I only have 3 hours each week to play and since more than 2 month those 3 hours are spend in looking for a solution without solution...

    Any idea?

    hi,

Thanks for your help but my computer is having no bluescreen. it just reboot right there. maybe i'm wrong but there is no physical bluescreen.

i just realize that the only things i have not tested is the video card. Is there a way to test it directly? like a diagnose test?

    Hi!

I have some news with my problem,

First I removed the ATI video card and i formated and reinstalled Windows7. I downloaded and installed the latest driver for my motherboard.

    *First strange*
There is an unknown device in the device manager but there is only the motherboard, CPU, DVD drive, Ram, harddrive, mouse and keyboard connected. So who is that unknown when I installed everything from Asus for my motherboard.

    *second*
Running the prime95 stress test, the computer stopped working after about 3 hours with the bccode "a0". I joined the minidump.

To sum up, i have a freshly formated Windows7 with no update and only those things installed :

    - Latest driver for motherboard
    - Latest lan
    - Latest audio
    - Speecy
    - Pc Wizard

    The machine :
    - Asus m4a785t-m
    - Amd 785g
    - Amd Athlon II X4 635
    - Ram 2 installed
    - 1 go HD
    - Video Card : Motherboard at now for testing.

During the test, the motherboard was at 54-55 and proc at 43-44 according to speecy

1 - So, is this normal for a computer to just "close" in a strong stress test?

2 - Can you help me with the minidump?

3 - How to know my unknown device when there is nothing on the PCI-e port and on the USB except for mouse?

    Thank's for your help.

Oh! It's only one i have got!

While i was waiting for a reply, i runned the prime95 stresstest for about 5 hours without problem so this morning i pluged back the ati video card and installed the latest driver found on the ATI website.

I tried to play Duke Nukem Forever. I have got no bluescreen but the game is lagging or freezing very much!

I start the game but at every 5 to 10 seconds the game totaly freeze for some second like 10 - 20 and then it keep working for 5 to seconds or it wont come back and still freezed! So I need to force quit with ALT+F4. It's totaly unplayeable.

I have DIRECTX 11 up to date and the ATI driver Up to date with a fresh windows, with only the driver and Duke Nukem installed. I even tried the "beta" driver from ATI but it wasn't working...

What can I do next? Tell me anything, please... I'm sick of this machine.

And yeah :) thank's for helping

    Hi,

I'm here to give you some news about my problem...

I think that I have made some bad move when I tryed an other power supply because now the computer wont boot at all with the original power supply (The one that come with the computer and as always make the compturer boot).

In fact that's the actual symptoms :

When I push the power button to open the computer :
    - Nothing show on the screen
    - The red light who flash when the processor is active now never flash
    - All the fans are spinning and the hard drive too
    - No "beep" or any normal booting sound.

    Plus :
    - I'm trying with nothing pluged on the motherboard (No harddrive no dvd drive)
    - Booting with or whitout the video card make the same exact problem
    - I tryed to remove the bios battery and start the machine and finaly put it back --> no difference
    - I tryed pluging 3 monitor to each port but nothing show up
    - I tryed 2 different power supply but nothing work

Now i'm out of idea, the situation is being worst than ever... Can somebody help me with that? Maybe I forget to plug a wire on the motherboard.

Actualy there is actualy only 2 cable connected on the mobo that come from the power supply the biggest and a 4 hole.

Thank's and have a nice day.
