BSOD playing Civ 5, error 0x0000001e

    Greetings,

I've been plagued with BSOD's generally while playing video games (STOP 0x0000001E). I can reproduce this error 100% of the time when playing Civilization 5. I've also been experiencing random computer restarts when doing tasks such as playing video games, watching videos or word processing.

When I started getting this error, I thought it may have been my PSU not supplying enough power to the graphics card, so I upgraded from a 400W to a 650W (running a Radeon HD 4870). I also upgraded my motherboard to an ASUS M5A97 (same CPU but upgraded RAM). Unfortunately, this did not fix my errors.

Recently, after updating some files (I don't recall which exactly), I've started receiving the following error upon system startup: "kdbsync.exe has stopped working". I have not resolved this issue.

I appreciate any help that can be provided.

rddesautels, all the dumps you uploaded are quite old, and debugging on those may not be very effective.

    Is there any latest dumps?

Run Disc Cleanup (Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools). Then follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Unfortunately, the last time I had a BSOD and not just a hard restart was about a week ago and there is no minidump of that event even though I've set up windows to make a dump file (small memory dump (256 KB) as per the instructions in the Dump Files - Configuration post). If Windows crashes with a BSOD but it doesn't reboot, will it still make the minidump file (this is what happened last and I had to restart my computer manually).

As soon as windows gets another BSOD I will post what I have (assuming a dump file is created).

    Thanks

Arc, my computer just suffered another BSOD. Even though I've folled the Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD instructions, there is no new dumpfile to be found. Even with the box checked to automatically restart, the computer hangs on the BSOD page. What can I do to fix this?

    Thank you.

How did you transfer OS when you changed hardware, did you perform a clean install ?

Pauly, thank you for your quick reply.

When I replaced my motherboard, memory and PSU (that was the only hardware replaced), I just transferred my hard disk drive to the new motherboard.

Then i think there lies your problem, windows was installed on to one set of hardware auto installing the drivers it needed for that hardware now when you power it up in new hardware its not going to understand where it is. When changing hardware you must prep windows for the move, have a look at this it will give you a bit of info although i fear it may be to late for you, a clean reinstall may be the best thing
Windows 7 Installation - Transfer to a New Computer which is what in effect you have done by changing the motherboard, lets not even go into your windows key/license (yes i did notice your system info was missing from your upload)

Pauly, thank you. I was not even aware that there could be an issue (I've always been told Windows is plug and play, I guess I don't quite understand what that means). I will try a fresh install of my version of Windows this weekend and post the results.

Incidentally, what do you mean by my system info was missing from my upload? Does the SF Diagnostic Tool not grab that information? Will it become necessary (if so, I can provide it) later if a problem continues?

I understand. I will do a clean install of Windows 7 and see how that goes. I'll upload my system info as well.

    Cheers
