    BSOD and weird graphical issues.

Let me just start off by giving a short history of what has happened recently.

My mom buys me a cheap walmart jacket for Christmas and for some reason it creates alot of static electricity, To the point where my hair stands up... lol But I have shut my computer down 3 different times just by touching the bay door and shocking it. I walk around the house touching metal objects trying to release some of the built up static electricity. Once when I was trying to plug in my headphones to the front jacks I sent a spark into my headphone jack and my headphones quit working. But for about a week now I have been preparing to reinstall windows (Archiving files and moving pictures off of my C: Drive) And Friday I was finally able to do it. But I couldn't find my install disk so I had to download a new one from here [MDL LINK REMOVED]
And I used the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool from the Microsoft website. Everything installed fine but that's where my problems started. I was getting constant BSODs and constant graphic driver crashes so I figured it was just a crappy windows install so I did it again and I quit seeing BSOD but I still get my graphic driver crashes. I started to think my ram is bad so I ran Memtest86+ And I got tons of red running the test. But it could also be my MOBO Capacitors. And then Just this morning I got the BSOD again and I saved the error report.

Well the reason I am here is because I really can't afford to buy new parts and I am hoping you all could see that it's a software issue as opposed to a hardware issue. What do you guys think? Is it a hardware issue or software? What are your suggestions?

BTW sorry for the wall of text. If there is any info I forgot let me know and I will get it posted up as soon as possible.

    Hello WorriedinUtah.

    Update your ATI/AMD display driver.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.
During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

The BIOS needs to be updated. Search in motherboard manufacturer's site.
    Code:
BIOS Version/Date Award Software International, Inc. F9, 4/16/2009
Let us know the results. And, which antivirus do you use?

Hi and thanks for your reply. I updated my BIOS to F10 and reinstalled my graphics drivers although I did not have the option to just install the driver only in custom settings.

I already tested my ram and it failed horribly. I just have not tested the individual sticks yet. I am to afraid I will shock my PC.

As for my Antivirus atm I don't have anything installed for that except the Windows Defender. I really haven't tried installing many programs since reinstalling windows yesterday.

Ok I am going to try and stress my computer and see what happens. I will let you know.

    Tip

Get yourself a household sprayer bottle ($.49 to $1.99) (or even an old Windex or 409 bottle).

Mix 1/4th Downey or Snuggle fabric softner with 3/4ths water. Shake well. Spray some of this in the general area arround the computer location, especially carpet, floor, chair. Even a small spray amount on your clothes & shoes (or socks) & Hair . This will reduce static electricity greatly. Don't wear that jacket near the computer area.

I just noticed when I click the link for the drivers on your forum it shows me beta drivers but I wasn't getting them from the website? Should I install the beta drivers?

And I just stressed my computer by playing a little Morrowind (It's the only game I have installed at this point.) and had no issues what so ever. Should I still run Memtest86+ anyway?

No! Dont use a beta. Get the WHQL one.

And, as far as you dont replace the failing RAM, the crashes will continue to occur.

Ok I just ran Memtest86+ up to the point where I was getting my massive errors yesterday and I am not seeing any errors now but I will run it overnight tonight and see where I am at on that.

Also I installed 12-10_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4 and it makes my kdbsync.exe crash everytime so I went back to 12-6-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql and no problems so far.

Yeah I am going to do that in a few. lol And I don't have that jacket anymore. For some reason my nephew is wearing it. lol Just don't tell my mom.

Should I mark this thread as solved or should I wait until I run memtest86+ overnight and see what turns up?

Also should I mark this thread as solved?

I also want to thank you all for the help.

Run memtest first, see the results, then decide.

Okay so I ran the test all night and all of today while I was at work and it passed no errors or anything. Why would it fail on one run but pass on another more lengthy run? Is there something I need to keep an eye out for?

The only thing I did notice while I was running the test is my keyboard wasn't working so I had to push the power button on my tower. What would cause that?

And thanks again for all your help!

Anyway I havent had any issues with my computer
