BSOD and Crashes on Boot
I'm experiencing more boot problems after the latest Win 7 updates. I've rolled back and installed them a few at a time, but it doesn't seem to help things. Thanks for the help!

Uninstall Norton and all Symentec products using Norton Removal tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.
Free up the startup.
- Click on the Start button
- Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
- Select the “Startup” tab.
- Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
- Apply > OK
- Accept the restart.
Let us know the results.
Thanks, Arc. I did go ahead and remove NIS (with the Norton Removal Tool), and installed Windows Security Essentials/Malwarebytes, etc. It was rough going in the beginning - the OS was not happy about the NIS removal (perhaps Norton mucked up some registry settings), and refused to boot for a long while. Wouldn't even run the Win 7 disc utilities properly (kept dying in the middle of load). But I finally got things to boot, and slowly put things back together, downloaded various updates and all that. It has been a few days and I've gone without any boot issues for 2 1/2 days. So about time. I've had constant boot issues with Win 7 for almost 4 years now. When it runs, it does just fine, but when the OS refuses to do the basics and recognize drives, boot sector, etc., it is a major headache.
I'm finally going for the ultimate fix:
A 27-inch iMac, Parallels to run any Windows apps, and the new Fusion drive which opens my apps and documents (mostly Adobe programs) at blinding speeds (I played around on someone else's new iMac and was hooked). The problem is the long wait to receive a system due to Apple's order backup, and the less than stellar graphics card (but still adequate).
