    BSOD while playing any game(recently seemingly random) several errors


    Hello,
    I've had issues with my Samsung RC512-S02 laptop for a few months now. It began after a NVIDIA update for their latest driver for my chip (GeForce GTG525M) in late December of 2012. Occasionally it would BSOD while playing Borderlands, but that eventually moved onto League of Legends. It got progressively worse and a few days ago I identified the cause of the problem through various sources (my friend that is a comp-sci major, WhoCrashed, and the internet) as the NVIDIA update, which I believed it to be. To fix that I completely uninstalled all NVIDIA files and installed a previous version of the driver, but my computer still BSOD's whenever I try to play any game. I put off fixing it to do schoolwork, but while just having YouTube on Google Chrome open and Microsoft Word it BSOD'd just now. The original errors caused by the NVIDIA driver were 0xC4 errors, and out of the errors that I experienced after fixing that most of them have still been 0xC4 errors, however two of them were 0x9F and 0x116 errors, and they have all been either caused by ntoskrnl.exe or by an unknown driver.     Hi superbruce56 and welcome to the forums,

    Firstly please update your system to Win 7 Service Pack 1, this will help with system stability.
    Also ensure you have all Windows updates installed.


    Please can you add your systems specs to your profile? Here's how:


    Uninstall AVG as it is well known for BSOD, you can re-install later if found not the cause.
    Please use Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Please turn off Driver verifier, if you have not done so already.

    You driver is outdated please try this driver which is newer than the one you have installed:

    Samsung Driver download page which has many drivers for your notebook.

    Post back any developments and repost a new crash log if any crashes occur after all updates and driver installs have been carried out.

    Thank you for the advice. I uninstalled AVG and got MSE, but I don't think AVG was the cause, haven't re-installed it though. I updated drivers from the Samsung website that I could, the NVIDIA driver's latest version causes BSOD on my computer, so i installed the version that came out before that one that didn't give me trouble (the trouble started initially when I installed the latest version when it first came out over a month ago). I'm not sure where to look for the NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver or how to find it on that website. I'm encountering problems installing the service pack for windows, it keeps failing. I tried several methods from this forum and from microsoft to attempt to fix it but it still keeps failing. My computer BSOD'd twice since doing these things, one of which was definitely from the NVIDIA driver's latest version. I've attached the dump file.

    Hi,

    For your USB 3.0 driver try here:

    Scroll down and click on the "Manuals and Downloads" Tab
    Scroll down until you find USB 3.0 Driver, then:

    1.Click the attached file and press ''Save'' button. Then press ''Browse...''
    button and select the place where you want to save the selected file.
    2.After downloading the file, find the downloaded file and right_click on the file.
    On pop_up menu, select ''Extract All...'' option.
    3.On ''Extraction Wizard'', press ''Next'' button and press ''Browse...'' button.
    Select a folder to extract file and press ''Next'' again.
    4.After the file has been sucessfully extracted, see the extracted files.
    Run ''Setup.exe'' file or ''setup.exe'' file in the folder.
    Reboot, that should hopefully sort out that driver problem?

    For Win 7 Service Pack 1, please try manual install:


    The file you want is: windows6.1-KB976932-IA64.exe 511.6 MB

    Install these updates and let me know how you get on.

    For your NVIDIA driver problem:

    Try this method. It seems complicated, but is quite simple and takes less than 5 minutes.
    Download the latest driver for your card from Nvidia and save it to the desktop.

    Go to C:/Nvidia (The usual location for Display drivers.) Open the folder and there will be a folder for display drivers, open it. Inside will be a folder for every Nvidia driver you have installed. They will be named 306.23, 310.90 etc. Delete all of them but do not delete the display driver folder itself.
    Disconnect from the Internet to keep windows from installing a generic display driver. It will install a display adapter, but that's OK.
    Go to Control Panel > Uninstall programs and find Nvidia. Important: If you have an Nvidia chipset DO NOT uninstall the chipset driver. Uninstall the 3D driver, PhysX driver, HDMI Driver and all other drivers. IMPORTANT: Uninstall the Display driver Last. After uninstalling the display driver you will be prompted to reboot. Do so. When you come back, Windows will install the display adapter, It's OK.
    Begin installing the driver you downloaded from Nvidia on your desktop. Select the language, accept the agreement and select Custom Install. Make sure the 'Clean Install' box is checked. Uncheck all drivers except the Display driver and the Physx Driver. Do not install any of the other drivers unless you have a particular need for the 3D driver. Complete the install and reboot.
