    BSOD's Crashes.freezes, failed Boots

Was having alot of issues with my PC crashing, alot do to oobe.etl MSE bad uninstall(so i think)

Decided i have some corrupt files or drivers soemwhere, so i got a new SSD and did a fresh install.
Worked great for a short while, now i get these crazy freezes where my screen looks like a lot of lines or multi-colored thread across my screen, then PC has hard time rebooting, had to use repair disc i made form fresh install.

Now ive gotten a couple BSOD (had been getting them randomly for a while, but mroe now). Looking for any advice on what these dmp files have to say.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, i did everything i could have to fix that issue, that didnt work, which is why i got a new hard drive and did a fresh install.

Now im not sure if that was the problem or was just getting blamed because i dont have MSE on this drive.

jcp2007, the problem here, as I see is AVG antivirus.

Description here: Driver Reference Table - avgidsdrivera.sys

Uninstall AVG using AVG Remover. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

    Let us know the results.

Hum Arc I don't really know much about that dump stuff yet - thanks for the heads up.

jcp do as Arc says and if you don't like MSE my personal favourite for a free ISS is Comodo Premium - terrific firewall and the new GUI is just cool.

Just as matter of interest I have found getting rid of AVG with the removal tool is like a few of those other AV's like Norton and McAfee they leave "footprints" in the registry. I regularly remove Norton for example and then find Symantec still listed there

Just as an academic exercise have a look at the HKEY - LOCAL_MACHINE and CURRENT_USER > Software lists and I would not be suprised if you found some AVG stuff still listed. Now I am not suggesting for one moment you should do it but I right click on stuff like that and delete them.

After my previous issues with MSE i dont want to use it again. constant crashes with oobe.etl and it would not uninstall properly, files would keep comming back, even after following all microsofts instructions, tools, manual registry work. gives me nightmares.

Any good/bad input on Avast free antivirus?

Avast free is very good, as far as it is used with the system's default firewall, and the settings are not tweaked. Still we face BSODs caused by aswSNX.sys and aswSP.sys; in a great number every day.

In my debugging experience I have noticed one fact that MSE is the most stable antivirus and in general it does not contribute to BSODs, whereas all the other antivirus programs do. That is why I suggest MSE when I see the problem is caused by an antivirus. Still the final decision is obviously your.

About Comodo, I will keep a virus insted, but not it

Look I know most of the regulars know I am a Kaspersky and Comodo freak but if you want a really good freebie with one of the best firewalls around go Comodo Premium it's pretty near all automated now and I put it on for all my friends who cannot afford paid for AV's.

PC Security, PC Internet Security, Free Desktop PC Security Protection

In any case no AV's are foolproof and you should first uninstall all others and after Comodo is up and running install Malwarebytes an s SuperAntiSpyware and ADWcleaner as on callers.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

choice is yours of course and if you have any problems with uninstalling I think Bleeping Computer has a list of the regular uninstallers.

One thing is for sure you will not get a consensus of the members in here as it is a personal choice like I said

So far so good after uninstalling AVG and switching to Avast & Malwarebytes.

Ran a memory test on my PC and it said it detected hardware problems and eventually stopped responding at about 71% on pass 2, going to search for some new RAM which im guessing may have attributed to some of my other multi-colored screen freezez/crashes.
