BSOD recovering from sleep or hibernate
hello all
here is the problem I am getting on this HP dv6-6100 laptop with Win7 64 home premium
"Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed" on the bluescreen
The laptop usually starts up fine from a cold start, however last time it did not.
problem has occurred ever since receiving this laptop, sealed refurbished from HP.
things I have tried:
updating ATI driver
uninstalling 50 HP programs except for driveguard
ran the diagnostic tools for HD and memory
SFC /SCANNOW
things I'm about to try:
uninstalling and reinstalling ATI driver
updating BIOS
more sfc /scannow attempts since I just read to do it up to 3 times
(unrelated I think, but this laptop also came with the escape key not working. also the mouse cursor jumps around randomly when typing, even after disabling tap and scroll options in the synaptics config. I'll have to buy a keyboard on ebay for $20 and hope it works, but better than sending it in - if I even could, since they won't update the warranty even though I bought it 1/5 and tried to get help from them 1/14. nice job HP)
anyway any help is greatly appreciated, I've spent many frustrating hours on google!
