Gregrocker is my guru .... the best policy to get your computer fixed is to follow Greg blindfolded, that is the first lesson I have learned here.
You got a very important point, space conflict between the partitions. It can make the HDD inaccessible. Wait for Greg's input on it. There must be a solution.
Easiest solution for you ....
Get an external disc. Boot the computer with Puppy Live. It assesses the partitions. Transfer every data important to you using that Puppy to the external.
Then format the entire HDD, start afresh.
At first try it : Let us know the result.
Not a real problem to follow the on screen instructions.
- Boot into Partition Wizard's GUI.
- Select Disc1
- Disc > Rebuild MBR
- Apply, and then Yes. Let the time to process.
The MBR of the disc will be rebuild.
Give the feedback. If failed, we will take the final step.
How about this?
Pull the old drive out of your machine, get a new drive, install Windows on it using your COA key on the sticker.
Once your machine is up and running, you can deal with the data on the old boot.
Your not getting anywhere this way. You don't need a massive drive for Windows, 250GB is plenty. Windows and apps on my machine is about 80GB. (win~20GB, apps~60GB). Data lives on a second drive.
