BSOD while web browsing and after restoring from Sleep mode

Just to add, I ran memtest86 for 5 full passes overnight (it took a long time) and there were no errors. I understand some people pick up errors on the 20th pass or more, but I assume this result is a good indication that the RAM is ok?

Also ran PassMark at the recommendation of Acer Support and it found no errors, although I didn't have a disk in the optical drive so it had errors in that test and also the USB.

I have searched more and found this 'hotfix' mentioned on another forum: "0x0000009F" Stop error when you resume a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 from sleep
Would it be a good idea to try this? It does cover two issues I had, such as BSOD upon recovering from Sleep mode, and also my laptop (if I recall correctly) had at least 2 external HDDs plugged in simultaneously during some (or all) of the crashes. Thanks

I haven't had any, it's been roughly 2 days since the last one. I've unplugged almost everything from the laptop's USB ports except for the mouse and a single external hard drive. I'm doing everything else as normal. If the previous pattern continues, I expect another BSOD in the next few days

I've decided not to delay the inevitable. Given that all signs point to hardware failure, and every opinion I've heard suggests the same (even sent the crash dumps to the store where I got this from, and they replied "seems likely to be a hardware failure"), I'm returning the laptop tomorrow... and hoping they will not simply repair and patch it up, or (better yet..lol) just restore it to the factory default, but fully REPLACE it, since it's been a faulty device from Day 1 and I have a feeling they will not be able to pinpoint the problem either. Very frustrated but I guess these things do happen..
