    BSOD Several times a day

Thanks in advance for any help. I hope I properly followed all rules for posting here.

I have a one-week old Dell XPS 8500 that is crashing several times a day. Shortly after getting it, I turned off UAC. Several days later I reset UAC to the recommended setting. I suspect UAC problems may have something to do with the issue?

Thanks very much for looking at my information.

I ran Windows Update and it did install 6 updates. It reports that my video driver is up to date.

I forgot that I had installed a firewire PCe card after receiving the new computer. There's nothing connected, but I got it to use with an analog-digital video convertor I have from many years ago. I came across some issues with Windows 7 and firewire when I searched Google. In particular, I found this from 2009:

1- Click the Start Button, type devmgmt.msc in the “Start Search” box and press Enter.
2- Expand the "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers" node in the device tree on the right hand pane
3- Right click the host controller node select "Update driver software ..."
4- Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
5- Select "let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer ..." and Check the box before “Show compatible hardware”.
    6. Choose the second option---1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy), and click next to update the driver.

My driver is listed as TI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller. Do you think I should try switching as per above?

    Thanks again.

It looks like its your Realtek network card driver that's causing the problem had a look at the time stamp and it could definitely use an update:

    Code:
    Rt64win7 Wed Nov 23 10:00:40 2011 (4ecd0a98) 000a8444 None Rt64win7.sys
you can update the drivers from here:

I ran the installation and got the successfully installed message. When I check in Device Manager, it indicates the same driver date, 12/26/12.

interesting you may need to uninstall the driver that is currently installed then follow this tutorial before installing the new driver:
