I think you would have a different view if someone was making liquid rocket fuel in your house. Unless you have a particular interest in seeing explosions up close and personal.
But, the best way to clear CMOS is unplug the PSU, hold the start button down for about 30 seconds to drain all power, remove the battery from the motherboard, noting which side is where, leave it out for 20 minutes at least. Put it back in, plug in the power, and start up going straight to bios.
Unpluging the power and moving the jumpers, or using the clear CMOS button will usually work, but the battery removal is probably the most sure fire way.
