    BSOD whilst browsing java folder

Hi, today I installed java 7 update 15 and I cannot open the java control panel or the java.exe file. When i click on them command prompt opens and loads of code comes up and then it closes, all very quickly.

Anyway, whilst browsing the java folder in program files, screen went black and i had to restart computer. A minidump was created and I have uploaded it.

I have a feeling it is to do with the java update, i uninstalled then resintalled yet same issue with the java control panel.

    Hi pain55,

Download and run the 'SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe file' as suggested in the tutorial link for better 'BSOD analysis': Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

After download, click 'Grab all' to capture the Mini-Dump, Event Logs, Update Logs, Driver List, System Information and MGDiag reports. Apart from the 'Mini dump' the information in these files is vital for investigation.

Do reply with the information; would be glad to assist.

A Dell employee working for someone with an HP computer. Quaint. :)

Anyways, I agree, we need more info to work with. Btw, can you induce the crash again by opening the java folder? If it's recurring then we can deem this an issue, otherwise it may have been coincidental that it happened when you opened the folder.

The crashdump itself unfortunately cannot help us. While this specific type tells us what happened, in that some memory managing structure got corrupted, it crashed too late to catch the act of corrupting the structure. That's why I recommend turning on Driver Verifier. Do not select the following checks: Force Pending I/O Requests, IRP Logging, and Low Resource Sim. Select all other checks. Make sure to restart system after you finish setup. If you experience a boot loop afterwards, go into Safe Mode by pressing F8 prior to Windows logo and disable DV there. Provide us any new crashdumps.
