I keep getting BSOD no clue what is causing it, LAN, Graphics, Drivers Up to date. Been fighting this for Months now. Will Attach mem-dump files. Please help.
please do the following:
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 passes: RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Tip: Do this overnight it can take a long time
In the mean time please enable driver verifier and allow it to crash your computer and then post the new dump files back here if it causes a crash. If within 24 hours driver verifier has not caused a crash please disable it:
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
If you can not boot normally into windows after enabling driver verifier please boot into safe mode by pressing F8 before the windows logo appears and then disabling driver verifier.
Running the memtest86+ now. Will post when it's completed 8 passes. When the test is done i will enable driver verifier and post if crash occurs. Thank you for your assistance. It's my Girlfriends computer that i built for her that is crashing, not mine thank god. But I put her specs under "My system specs".
OK, finished the memory test, 9 passes and no errors, did the verifier and blue screen immediately before windows even booted up completely. So... Not sure what to do now.
Yeah I disabled the verifier right away... well as soon as i figured out how to enter safe mode due to the ASUS bios, lol. Anyway here's the only new dump file it gave me. Thank you for your help.
I just did the SF Diagnostics, had not been using that before. But here's the file it gave me. Thanks
As a test, uninstall Webroot. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.Code:Start Menu\Programs\Webroot SecureAnywhere Start Menu\Programs\Webroot SecureAnywhere\Tools
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.
Free up the startup.
- Click on the Start button
- Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
- Select the “Startup” tab.
- Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
- Apply > OK
- Accept then restart.
These programs are unwanted, and problematic.
Uninstall them, too.Code:Start Menu\Programs\ASUS Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AI Suite II Start Menu\Programs\MSI Afterburner Start Menu\Programs\MSI Afterburner\SDK
Update your ATI/AMD display driver.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.
During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.
Do you use this network adapter?
If you use, update the driver .... probably the site is MediaTek - Downloads WindowsCode:Name [00000012] 802.11n Wireless LAN Card Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\netr28x.sys (3.0.2.0, 696.00 KB (712,704 bytes), 6/19/2009 10:56 AM)
If after doing all these, the BSODs continue to occur, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
InformationWhy Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.
How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.
WarningBefore enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.
If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.
Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.Tip
- If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
- If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.
Uninstalled the webroot, Security essentials found no threats. Re-installed the latest video driver, driver only. That wifi card is not in use, and has been disabled in the device manager. Malwarebytes is running it's scan now. AI Suite II, Afterburner, Uninstalled.
