    Frequent BSOD since dropping computer

    Hi,

I dropped my Toshiba Satellite which caused a BSOD. Since then, it seems as though any bump or sudden movement would trigger a BSOD, which made me wonder if I had a hardware issue due to dropping the machine. However, today as I was trying to investigate, I noticed I was getting a BSOD about 5 seconds after opening Google Chrome. It happened 2 or 3 times in a row. Now I'm visiting you on FireFox and haven't triggered a BSOD yet.

Attached are my DMP files - Hope you can help with what little information I have.

PS. I just discovered this site today - and it is awesome! Really impressive

Hello and welcome Gmarkey mate just have a lok at the RAM sticks and reseat them plus I would do the same for the had drive could be something real simple.

If you are wondering how to do this - this might help out Taking apart Toshiba laptops and notebooks. DIY guides. Disassembly instructions. < the hard drive is practically the same as the RAM sticks cover just remove the lid and gently pull out the hard drive - it usually has a small piece of ribbon to aid extraction.

I tried removing and reinserting both the RAM sticks and the hard drive. After rebooting I still recieve a BSOD after opening Google Chrome. I am able to use my computer just fine using FireFox!

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling chrome and see if it works then.

Simple test, but check disk would be more thorough (possible bad sectors)
    Disk Check

Also Memtest86+ to check for memory corruption
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

These are likely symptoms of dropped laptops, especially if you have already tried re-seating the hardware.

Yep those tests are good especially the HDD one as the drop may have caused some misalignment within the rive itself after all it is in a vulnerable spot and fragile. Well form from what I have seen of the Toshibas I have had for fixing.

The RAM I am not so sure and why I asked to OP to reseat them - depends I guess on the height of the drop?

I would most certainly check the ram and hard drive just to make sure things are okay. Keep this is mind; hardware doesn't know the difference between Chrome and Firefox as stated in post #3. Try removing Chrome and installing it again.
