    BSOD related to Kernel-Power

    Hi guys,

I have been recently getting the infamous BSOD every time I want to resume working on my laptop after it is set to sleep. Windows Event Viewer shows a number of Critical events, all of them indicating Kernel-Power as source, event ID 41. I'm attaching the details as instructed.

    Thanks a bunch in advance!

    Software Concern

    Please uninstall the following program:
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\Babylon	Public:Start Menu\Programs\Babylon	Public
Download and install Revo Uninstaller free from here: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Opt for "Advanced Mode" and uninstall the software (also delete the leftover registry entries).

    Security App

What security software do you use? I see none listed but if you do have any antivirus (avast!, avg etc) please remove them for the time being. List of uninstallers here: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase

Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes, both recommended from a strict BSOD perspective.

Microsoft Security Essentials, Free antivirus for windows

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

       Information
DO NOT start the free trial of MalwareBytes. Deselect the option when prompted.

    Virus check

Scan your system with the following:

Kaspersky TDSSKiller How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)

ESET online scanner One-time virus scanner free with ESET online scanner

    Start up

Keep less stuff at the start-up. Only anti-virus, this helps avoid driver conflicts and improves time to log in to windows.
    Startup Programs - Change

Please run these tests and report back the results

    1. SFC /scannow to check windows for corruption - SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
    2. Disk check for errors on the hard drive - Disk Check
    3. Troubleshoot applications by a clean boot - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
    4. Memtest86+ paying close attention to part 3 - RAM - Test with Memtest86+
    5. Hard drive test from HDD mfg website - Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

    Heat:
-Only use the laptop on a hard surface with nothing blocking any of the vents.
-Use a laptop cooling pad if possible
-Blow out all vents with canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor, they can damage the components).
-Ensure that the fan comes on and is blowing air out of the vent (may not happen at startup, but should happen after using it for a while).

    Temperature

For monitoring heat of the system, use Speccy or HWMonitor:

    Speccy System Information

    HWMonitor

    Many thanks, KoolKat77!

Probably I should have mentioned this in the first place - this laptop is my work laptop and even though I have administrative privileges, I will need to check to what extent I can follow all the recommended steps, especially the ones related to uninstalling and installing stuff.

I was expecting something more simple such as, "this XYZ driver is the one causing the problem". Since I have found out it is really more complex stuff then I will be careful in order not to mess anything up.

In the meantime - this computer has Trend Micro OfficeScan installed as part of the coprporate software.

I'll check and get back to you.

    Thanks a bunch again!

No, unfortunately. I see that when the laptop comes out of sleep mode, Wi-Fi is no longer working and it won't work no matter what I do so I am forced to reboot.
Problem is that it is a corporate laptop so I cannot keep installing and uninstalling unauthorized stuff.
Is there any way to know if any of the drivers installed is corrupt or causing problems?
    Thanks!
