    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL random BSODS

    Dear SevenForums,

    I am encountering seemingly random IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSODs with error code "d1". In the past, these BSODs have primarily reported that one of my two NIC drivers is causing the BSOD. Before I start making changes to my system, I would like to ask if someone would be willing to analyze my minidump files and, if possible, provide me with advice as to how to proceed from here?

    These BSODs started originally three weeks ago when I installed a new sound card in my system (HT Omega eClaro). I have since removed that sound card and replaced it with another new sound card (ASUS XONAR Essence STX). The BSODs continue...

    Please note that I have already tried updating one of my NICs, and disabling the other NIC in BIOS, but to no avail. I'm wondering at this point if a reformat is necessary?

    Thank you in advance for any assistance offered! Take care.

    It seems to be C Media audio driver from the drivers name. Some other Devices like Asus Xonor also uses this driver. Whatever, the audio driver is causing the crashes there. If you have installed the audio card recently, try replacing it. Or search for updates in the manufacturer's website.

    Follow it: How to Revert the Win7 1394ohci.sys to the Legacy Driver

    Anyway, it may also be the situation the the audio driver is clashing with some other audio component recently updated. If you want us to have a closer look to your issue, post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

    Thanks, Arc, but not sure if I am going to reformat at this time. I would first like to see if someone would be willing to analyze my minidump and tell me if there are alternative options available to me instead of a complete reformat.

    Extremely sorry, mate .... posted some other thread's instruction in your thread

    See it for one more time please? I have rectified it. :)

    This is the thread with which the instructions got swapped .... Re install windows 7 after new HD install no optical drive

    That's a blunder .... I admit!

    Arc,

    Thank you so much for analyzing my dump files (Man, it's important to keep the last word on that sentence!).

    If possible, I would be most grateful should you be willing to study my crash in additional detail. The reason for this is that this crash happened about a year ago due to my c-media driver. Despite trying several things, the same problem has reared its head again. Any additional information you can share with me would be very helpful.

    Per your suggestion, I have used the SF Diagnostic Tool and attached the .rar file to this thread. Thank you again for all of your help with this problem! Please do let me know if I can clarify anything.

    Arc,

    One more thing: why did you put this in your last post? - Follow it: How to Revert the Win7 1394ohci.sys to the Legacy Driver

    Why would revering to a legacy driver fix my problem? Also, that legacy driver does not seem to be related to a sound driver.

    Thanks for clarifying!

    1394ohci.sys is contributing to your issue ..... see some entries from your memory dump.
    Code:
    fffff800`00b9c928  fffff880`09461a17 1394ohci!WppAutoLogTrace+0x15f
    fffff800`00b9c0f8  fffff880`09443f4f 1394ohci!Interrupt::WdfEvtInterruptIsr+0x147
    When it troubles, better it is to set to legacy driver. So I suggested it to you.

    Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

    • Double click to open it.
    • Click this button only:
    • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

    You have 29 entries in startup. Free up the startup.

    1. Click on the Start button
    2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
    3. Select the “Startup” tab.
    4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
    5. Apply > OK
    6. Accept then restart.

    Download and install this particular version of Intel RST.

    Get rid of it ......
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\McAfee
    Most problematic thing. Crap. Does not give you any security, but causes various troubles including network blocking. And you are facing network blockages, too. I am discussing it later. Now you uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
    Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

    Come to your network blockage now.
    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    So, network is being blocked here, as you can see. One element is already traced as McAfee. Now, it is time to update the network drivers.

    Do you use RADI? if not, uninstall all the Marvell entries in Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then reboot. At reboot, necessary generic drivers will be auto installed. Marvell's drivers are most poorly coded.

    Said about the C Media driver earlier .... added these stuff now. When all the changes are done, let us know how it is working. And, best of luck :)

    Arc,

    You are the man (or woman)! I had no idea all of that was wrong with my system, and I have a decent amount of experience building systems. Thank you so much! I will make the necessary changes and report back in a day or two with results.

    Until then...

    Arc,

    No BSODs since I have made all the changes you specified in your last few posts.

    Fingers-crossed that your recommended changes ameliorate this issue!

    I'll report back in a few days and let you know how it's going, but for now, it looks good!
