I uninstalled AthTek RegistryCleaner first, then ran SFC.EXE /SCANNOW as an administrator in CMD.exe and after it was done I selected all and copied the results, this is what I got:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

    C:\Windows\system32>SFC.EXE /SCANNOW

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th

Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Now this may sound silly but please run the SFC command three more times the same way you did the first time and then post back your results.

After running the scan three times I'm still getting the same results:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Windows\system32>SFC.EXE /SCANNOW

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

    C:\Windows\system32>

Now, after each scan I was typing exit and then opening a new command prompt window, was I supposed to do it that way?

It doesn't matter, unfortunately it looks like there are files that the system file checker can not repair, so in this case it would be best to back up all the data you want to an external drive and then do a Repair Install. If you have any questions about the tutorial feel free to post back here and we will be happy to help.

I decided to bite the bullet and make the upgrade to Windows 8. Going to try it out for a while and if I don't like it, I'll downgrade back to 7 or make the switch to Linux.
