I would like to request your help in addressing a BSOD caused by WHEA error.
My computer had been stable for a long time (no prime95, memtest, etc. errors either), before the sudden onslaught of BSODs. The computer will barely keep running for one hour before crashing.
I can’t figure out the issue.

Is your i7-960 overclocked? I mean if so, then it may be time to re-adjust the settings to make it stable again.
no, i did that. it runs at stock 3.2 GHz. BSOD still occurs.
the overclocking was miminal, 3.33 GHz. voltage was set at auto, i don't know the exact value.
i am using another bootable drive on the same computer and the system is stable, with no issues. the difference is stable (samsung HD, windows 7 pro) vs. unstable (OCZ vertex 4, Windows Ultimate).
Problem solved.
I have no idea what the issue actually was or what solved it. I booted from another drive, ran a disk check on the drive with the BSODs (no errors found). I then booted from the drive with the issues. My computer has been up for four days (sleep on/off cycles, prime95) without a single BSOD. I also cleared the quarantined items in MSFT Security Essentials.
Once upon a time I would have doggedly inquired about the cause and the solution, tried to understand the issue. Now I am happy with the outcome, no matter how mysterious it is.
