Damn, no BSOD, but the computer screen went black. Any ideas what the problem is?

But there's a BSOD.

So it is a display caused memory read error. And for the laptops there are less scope of display related troubleshooting. As the laptop is new, the best option is you use the warranty.Code:fffff800`00b9c818 fffff880`04905a24Unable to load image atikmdag.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for atikmdag.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for atikmdag.sys atikmdag+0x4fa24
Ok, thanks a lot for all of the help. Again, you have been outstanding and I thank you. I will send it back.
After a month of having my laptop "serviced" I have got it back and guess what? It still crashes! I am so frustrated. Supposedly they replaced the main board. I have attached the zipped crash files and I hope this is related to a driver or something... Arc, do you mind helping me out again please?
Thanks in advance...
The same pattern of memory management error I am seeing.
I would suggest you to use the computer in safe mode for a reasonable amount of time to see if it is crashing there or not. If it is really a memory corruption, it will crash in safe mode too.Code:Debugging Details: ------------------ WRITE_ADDRESS: GetPointerFromAddress: unable to read from fffff80002efa0e8 GetUlongFromAddress: unable to read from fffff80002efa198 fffff00001739568 Nonpaged pool CURRENT_IRQL: d FAULTING_IP: nt!KeUpdateSystemTime+0 fffff800`02cd3b40 48895c0908 mov qword ptr [rcx+rcx+8],rbx CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT: 1 DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: CODE_CORRUPTION BUGCHECK_STR: 0xA PROCESS_NAME: System LAST_CONTROL_TRANSFER: from 0000000000000000 to 0000000000000000 STACK_TEXT: 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 : 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 : 0x0 STACK_COMMAND: kb CHKIMG_EXTENSION: !chkimg -lo 50 -db !nt 23 errors : !nt (fffff80002cd3b43-fffff80002cd3bfb) fffff80002cd3b40 48 89 5c *09 08 48 89 6c 24 10 48 *00 74 24 18 57 H.\..H.l$.H.t$.W fffff80002cd3b50 41 54 41 *8b 41 56 41 57 48 81 ec *80 00 00 00 65 ATA.AVAWH......e fffff80002cd3b60 48 8b 34 *60 20 00 00 00 80 3d 46 *20 22 00 00 45 H.4` ....=F "..E fffff80002cd3b70 0f b6 e0 *85 8b e9 8b fa 0f 84 38 *8b fd ff 48 8b ..........8...H. fffff80002cd3b80 cf 48 b8 *c1 00 00 00 80 f7 ff ff *89 8b 00 48 03 .H............H. fffff80002cd3b90 c8 48 8b *55 48 c1 e8 20 a3 1c 00 *d0 00 80 f7 ff .H.UH.. ........ fffff80002cd3ba0 ff 48 8b *24 48 a3 14 00 00 00 80 *65 ff ff 48 b8 .H.$H......e..H. fffff80002cd3bb0 08 00 00 *4c 80 f7 ff ff 48 8b 08 *2f 03 cf 8b fa ...L....H../.... fffff80002cd3bc0 48 8b c1 *e1 c1 e8 20 f7 df a3 10 00 00 00 80 f7 H..... ......... fffff80002cd3bd0 ff ff 48 *c6 c1 48 a3 08 00 00 00 *83 f7 ff ff f0 ..H..H.......... fffff80002cd3be0 0f c1 be *90 21 00 00 2b fa 48 bd *ec 03 00 00 80 ....!..+.H...... fffff80002cd3bf0 f7 ff ff *90 ff 7f 33 48 8b 4d 00 *05 15 27 64 22 ......3H.M...'d" MODULE_NAME: memory_corruption IMAGE_NAME: memory_corruption FOLLOWUP_NAME: memory_corruption DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 0 MEMORY_CORRUPTOR: STRIDE FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: X64_MEMORY_CORRUPTION_STRIDE BUCKET_ID: X64_MEMORY_CORRUPTION_STRIDE Followup: memory_corruption ---------
OK, I will try to run everything in safe mode and see if it crashes there. If it is a memory problem then does that mean that replacing the RAM will solve the problem?
If it turn out to me memory problem, then either the replacement RAM are also bad, or it is the motherboard.
I ran it in safe mode and it crashed. Here is the dump file. I hope it is something that I can replace cheaply!
Last try with the drivers .... probably the dump got something :)
Update Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter driver.

I think you need to update AMD USB 3.0 Device Driver - AMD® A75 Chipset too. USB elements are failing there, too.
An d the driver is kinda old.Code:fffff880`009ffc58 fffff880`04c5fdb0 USBPORT!USBPORT_Xdpc_Worker

Also, update the AMD SATA Controller. It is old, too.
Let us know the results.Code:fffff880`00db4000 fffff880`00dcc000 amd_sata (deferred) Image path: amd_sata.sys Image name: amd_sata.sys Timestamp: Tue Dec 13 02:22:00 2011 (4EE66970) CheckSum: 000173E9 ImageSize: 00018000 Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
I just wanted to say thanks again for all of the help. Samsung will be reimbursing me the money that I paid for the laptop. What a headache. No more Samsung products for me!
Thanks again...
