I just meant returning the CPU to the shop I purchased it from. I've removed the CPU and am now awaiting a response to my returns query. Thanks again.

Hi again, it turns out that it was the hard drive! Although no errors were reported after the numerous scans I ran, after removing it and using an alternative drive I've had no problems. Very strange! Is there a hard drive testing method I missed?

Sometimes an issue can just slip through the cracks. Software diagnostic tests are not a 100% guarantee that they'll discover a problem, but without them we're often off to just swapping all the hardware, so they're good for at least narrowing potentials down.

I had a feeling the drive may have been involved, since your crashes were related to RAM-to-disk crosstalk. Unfortunately there were no outliers that made it scream, "DRIVE IS BAD!" so I can only go so far with the info given.

Sorry to hear you had to go through much to find out none of it was responsible. At least it's been taken care of! I say wait a week, then mark this as solved if you feel it's ok.

No problem at all, really appreciate your help with it all. I've learned quite a bit as a result so thanks again! I'll pop on by next week to mark it solved if I have no further problems.

    All the best!
