Make sure your JAva is updated, however I would recommend removing it. Also run a memtest, the full test, it will take a few hours.
    RAM (memory):
This will require memtest on a bootable CD or USB stick.

Maybe I am being a little dumb here but does that game or hiram even require Java? If not and it is holding it up just dump it.

Hiram just my two cents worth have you tried cleaning out the slots??

When I reseat RAM or anything in a slot I always clean the slot as the crud over time will settle and "film" the contacts over.
If yo want to know how to do that I just cut a piece / strip of old credit card about 20 mm wide - round off the corners a little and then place some lint free cloth a bit of that microweave window cleaning cloth is good over the end - moisten it (very little) with some alcohol - depending on where you live it is called denatured spirit or methylated spirit and GENTLY swipe along the slots for a few "swipes" - don't use grog / booze it will gum the slot up.LOL!!
