    Yes, My D drive which is just a second hard drive. It has like 40 gigs of space left on it compared to my C: which only has 20 left.

    Now lets not panic here.

    There is absolutely no reason to wipe the disk.

    He just needs to get his hands on a install DVD, and run a repair.

    Why on earth should he reset his CMOS?
    This crack runs after post, just before the OS boot is loaded.

    When he repairs windows, the mbr will be refreshed and the crack will be gone.

    Another thing he can do is to make a bootable cd with a partitioner,
    shrink the os partition, create a new one, and install a fresh copy of windows on to that.

    At least he will be able to access the files that are on the "old" install.

    After he copied everything over, we can help him get rid of the old install.

    .

    A question for the OP.

    I asked the exact message you get when you try to boot.

    Could you please tell us what it states? exactly?

    Squonksc,

    Good points, I have never had any dealings with this crack before, so I was going real slow in approaching it.

    Put the cmos battery in, vlose the case back up, plug it in, and try to boot. If you have a dvd to boot to try it. if not boot into safe mode (F8).

    let us know what happens
