Do you have any spare or extra hard drives ?
Yes, My D drive which is just a second hard drive. It has like 40 gigs of space left on it compared to my C: which only has 20 left.
are you thinking what im thinking? Dual boot?
Edit~~ No, My vista installation is in yukon about 50 miles from where i am. and its to late to go out there.
Now lets not panic here.
There is absolutely no reason to wipe the disk.
He just needs to get his hands on a install DVD, and run a repair.
Why on earth should he reset his CMOS?
This crack runs after post, just before the OS boot is loaded.
When he repairs windows, the mbr will be refreshed and the crack will be gone.
Another thing he can do is to make a bootable cd with a partitioner,
shrink the os partition, create a new one, and install a fresh copy of windows on to that.
At least he will be able to access the files that are on the "old" install.
After he copied everything over, we can help him get rid of the old install.
.
A question for the OP.
I asked the exact message you get when you try to boot.
Could you please tell us what it states? exactly?
The message scrolls up to the point where i cant see it. if i try to push arrows to go up it dissapears to a command line. Which is running through that thing. It says from what i saw Unrecognizeable partition table in drive 81, Please get a micrsoft Fdisk tool and repair it.
Squonksc,
Good points, I have never had any dealings with this crack before, so I was going real slow in approaching it.
its time to put the battery in what should i do when i hook it all back up?
ok brb
Edit~~ Problem still persists It gave me a screen with a whole bunch of info on it and said it will start in safe mode, Esc to go to menu or f1 to continue. Pressed f1 and it gave me the same problem. Now i cant get the same screen again. =( I have 4.7gb dvd's i can use to download a boot disc if i can get a link.
