    Computer Error/ BSod troubleshoot

3 weeks ago my computer first had errors occur i am on windows 7 btw. The window i was using started to lag and or glitch a bit so i closed it and went to re open firefox but no desktop icons or anything on the start / date and time bar were there. I couldt right click the desk top either. so i tried doing ctrl alt delete and a box popped up saying ctrl alt delete could not be accessed at this time or something. so i clicked the power button and a shutdown thing popped up saying are you sure you want to shut down so and so program is still running i clicked okay but it didnt shut down all the way the display went black but computer seemed still on. so i did a hard shutdown. when i rebooted the computer started normaly and all seemed fine. then 30 min later same thing happened exept when i restarted it said no boot device selected. i turned it off and restarted 5 min later it booted normally so then again after 20 5-40 minutes i forget i started getting glitchy a bit then it went to BSOD With a kernal inpage erorr is what it said then it automaticly restarted. it booted normally so i went to look for my minidump file which should have been created or a .dmp file no file existed so i check my setting and they were set right, to send small memory dump apon crash. so i figrued this ment that the error wasn't big enough for the computer to write a dump for. So then i did a chkdsk/r and a another scan i forget which but someone recomended it to me. again next time i tried to use my computer after a while the desktop icons disapeared so i did hard shut down and put in my windows 7 recovery disk and did the recomended checking errors on windows 7 and i think the memory checking option. that didnt solve the problem because it happened again later that day s so i did a system resore uninstalled my latest downloads before the error occured/ drivers. So32 weeks later after not really using my computer too much and doing reasearch on my laptop on how to problem solve i keep getting bsods(i got diffrent bsod error then kernel inpage recently i forget which) with no minidumps the desktop disapearing and no boot divece errors(occasionally). At this point i think i need to wipe my hard drive and re-enstall windos 7 and see if that fixes the errors but i dont know how to do that really and have alot of important things like photoshop/ ableton projects that i cant lose, and i feel like if i back everything important up the files wont be the same due to me using this main drive along with another one with files on both to certain things. Any Advice on how to solve my problem would be great Thanks!

My hard drive main drive i'm assuming that is failing is , Samsung HD 103SJ ATA DEVICE

    Hi,

Is the other test you ran a System File Check? Regardless please run again:

Run SFC to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt
(Note: there is a space between SFC and /scannow)

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

    Please run chkdsk again:

Also please Run chkdsk /f/r in an elevated command prompt.

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
At the command prompt please type: chkdsk /f/r
(Note: there is a space between chkdsk and /f/r)

If you have run SFC or it comes back as No violations found then i would suggest a "Repair Install"
rather than a re-install, that way it will not affect your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers.

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

If you suspect the HDD failing I would strongly suggest backing up either your complete computer image/or data regardless of how you proceed and before you do a Repair Install or a full install:

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html

You could then run a hard drive test on your Samsung from your manufacturer's website,
    (Scroll down to find Samsung):

Post back any observations / feedback / results.

    cheers

    Dave

Thanks for your reply dave So i have done the chkdisk /f/r and the sfc/scannow, i also made a repair disk and tried to repair the install of windows 7 but it didn't need repairing.

So i havnt used my computer since i wrote this first post for anything besides to run a chkdsk and the sfc/scannow and to check my drivers once more.

Today when i tried playing A video game, 4 hours into playing without anything noticibly going wrong i tried to view my desktop, and the no icons error was happening but even though my the glitch was happening it didnt effect my game window and i went back to playing it this make me think my hard drive might be fine and my display driver or video card is messing up ???? but i have no idea and maybe is still symptoms of a failing hard drive.

I always had been doing a hard shut down because nothing was showing up on the task bar or desktop but i feel like the windows are there but invisible or something lol

    Anythoughts? THanks!

I recently had similar issues and have seen several other forums with similar posts in the last couple weeks. I'm wondering if Microsoft put out a bad update for win7.

Long story short, a firmware update on my SSD fixed it. I know you don't have a ssd, but it's worth a shot. And remember, hdd/ssd firmware updates can't see the drive if your in raid mode (ask me how I know ).
