Multiple BSODS: Mem.Management, PageFaultInNonPagedArea, PFNLstCorrupt

Hi,
I'm new here, but you seem like a helpful group so thought I'd give it a try. I've been having a few problems since Friday that have left my PC unable to boot.
Some background first (which may or may not be relevant):
- Turned on my PC a couple of weeks ago and it said it was installing new hardware, thought that was weird but let it pass. It was the IDE drivers by the way.
- Turned on PC Friday morning and there was no internet connectivity, there was some error message about a Windows service not starting or something. So I restarted the computer and before it even gets to the Windows is starting screen, a BSOD flashes up and then immediately reboots. Same happens booting into safe mode. Enable boot log doesn't work as I guess it doesn't even reach the point where a log would start. Last known good config doesn't work.

So, I have tried installing a new copy of Win 7 on another hard drive and that was fine until setup finishes and then it restarts (as it should). It ended up just as a black screen with a cursor though; I left it about 45mins and it did nothing so I restarted but no luck that time, same thing happened. I tried booting into safe mode on the new installation and it looked good at first (preparing to start windows for the first time message) but then an error came up saying that it couldn't finalize installation in safe mode and restarts. Basically no further forward.

Other things I've tried:
-Booting with one RAM stick in at a time, in various slots.
-Using system recovery and chkdsk- it gets to about 600000/700000 files and comes up with a BSOD (done it twice so far and it's been a different one each time). Not tried this on my other hard disk so far.
-I tried booting into system recovery and doing sfc /scannow, fixboot, fixmbr, they had no effect.
-I've tried the System Recovery RAM test thing and I don't think it found anything, I probably need to do a Memtest run but need to get some blank CDs first.

I can boot into Linux (Ubuntu (ver. 12.10?)) with a Live CD although this came up with a few errors the first time, took me about 3 gos before it worked. Installing Linux to a drive doesn't work
I don't know much about Linux but I managed to scan both drives from within the Disk settings menu and it reported no problems.

Given that Linux works reasonably fault free (there has been some issues like one time it wouldn't wake from sleep and another the mouse completely stopped working; these may be issues with Linux or the fact I'm running an OS from CD), I would be inclined to think it was a HDD problem but it seems unlikely that a novel problem could suddenly affect both drives.

Any ideas? What should I try next? Apart from Memtest obviously (which I can do tonight probably; at work just now)?

Oh and can't run SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe as I can't get into Windows, I can get into a command prompt via system recovery though so if there's anything I can do from there...?

I already said, I couldn't do that because I can't get into windows unfortunately, it's not an intermittent problem; it's a can't boot problem :-(.

That thread didn't get me anywhere so far unfortunately, BSODs occur before I can do much normally, I ran Memtes86 overnight (7+ hours) and there were no errors.
I ran Startup Repair twice. The first time it recovered an old Vista partition which I had deliberately removed from the boot list (didn't want the prompt every time I started the computer). This interestingly, still works actually. The second time it said that it was unable to fix the problem and that it could attempt to contact Microsoft, I didn't connect an ethernet cable as I didn't think this was likely to help; I assumed it meant so it could relay info to MS rather than relay a fix back to me.

I currently have 2HDDs and 3 partitions:
Disk 1: Partition 1- ~700GB Windows 7 (original version) -NOT WORKING
Partition 2- 50GB Old copy of Vista is on this partition -WORKING
Disk 2: Partition 1- 1TB Windows 7 (new version) -NOT WORKING

This suggested to me that maybe it isn't a hardware problem (especially as it's affecting multiple disks; I find it unlikely, both would fail at once and one of the partitions seem to have a functional OS).

I tried to format Disk 1 Partition 1 and it BSOD'ed with PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. I have eventually managed to delete that partition without it crashing and set it up to format that partition before I left home earlier.
When I get back, I am going to disconnect the 1TB drive and attempt Win 7 re-installation on the 700GB partition, assuming it hasn't crashed. I know I should probably clear Disk 1 Partition 2 as well but I'm a bit hesitant to do that given that is my only working copy of Windows at the moment.
The 1TB drive has about 600GB of photos on it which I don't want to lose. I have a backup but don't want that backup to be the only copy I have.
I'll update you with my progress later.

Also I've discovered something that I don't know if it's related or not but it would be a huge coincidence if not. I emailed my flatmate yesterday to ask whetherI could use his computer to write CDs if necessary (he is out of the country at the moment) and after he replied I turned on his computer last night to discover that his computer was doing the exact same thing- instant reboot before Windows begins to load.
He has only had this computer a couple of weeks and it was working fine up to Friday at least. This would mean the same problem had affected both mine and his computer at some point Friday/Saturday night.
We both are using surge protectors so I was wondering if this problem could be virus/worm related. I haven't directly shared any files with him or vice versa but they are on the same LAN. My other flatmate (who is still at home) hasn't had any problems to my knowledge.
