BSOD leaving laptop on, or using Sleep Mode

New to the forums, haven't found any good solutions to my problem by using Google.

Bug Check String: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
I usually get ntoskrnl.exe as the source of the error. If someone can tell me how to provide minidump files I can do that too.

Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Actually a BSOD is an unique problem depending on the computers overall working environment, and so googling is not really helpful for it all the times.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump. As a Stop 0x7F is totally driver related, it is not possible to infer anything in absence of a crash dump.



Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program (CCleaner, TuneUp or inbeilt Disc Cleanup etc) before you upload another zip, coz those will wipe the minidump folder.

That system information is a source of necessary date. It should be a part of the upload.
From the next time, upload the data in the relevant post, not altering the original post. It helps to maintain chronology.

The BSOD is caused by the Qualcomm Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter Driver.

It is the latest one listed in the site Drivers for Atheros AR5B97 and Windows 7

If it have been a network related crash, I must have been lost :) But fortunately it is a driver power state failure only, related to sleep. When a USB device fails the poser state during wake up with the updated device driver, better it is to check the USB host controller itself. So I checked for Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver and found that it is backdated.

Iwould suggest you to update it from RENESAS/NEC Drivers & Firmwares.

Also, the display driver is failing.

Install the latest WHQL.

• Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download 314.22 WHQL.

Now observe the situation. Put the computer to sleep and wake it up. Is it still crashing? If so, disable USB Selective Suspense .

• USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs during startup and wake up from sleep.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept then restart.

Let us know the results.

The display drive is a must to install, so it is grayed out that one cannot uncheck it :) And PhysX is also a must, as it is the DirectX element. All the rest are usually not used by common users.
