    BSOD Memory Dump minutes after Windows loads

    Hello. I've had an issue in the last six months or so in which I get a blue screen memory dump or occasionally a freeze (for a minute or sometimes it will just stop responding and I have to reboot) within a few minutes of Windows starting up. This typically happens only in the morning when I start my computer for the first time that day, though it has happened some in the evening when I get home from work, as well. This happens if I'm using the computer (browsing in Chrome) or if I don't touch a thing after startup. The good news is that after it reboots the first time, it's fine after that for the rest of the day.

    My guess is that there is an update program causing this problem. It does happen in stretches and the previous stretch seemed to end when I changed one of the Adobe updaters to check monthly instead of daily. But it came back.

    I'd very much appreciate any help that anyone can provide. Thanks.

    Ok had a look through your files, and a couple of things worth noting:

    your Nvidia video card driver seems to be causing problems:

    Code:
    fffff880`037337e0  fffff880`0494ad1aUnable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2
    *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
    *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
     nvlddmkm+0xb4d1a
    Driver Reference Table - nvlddmkm.sys

    looking at the time stamp we can see it is not up to date:

    Code:
    kd> lmvm nvlddmkm
    start             end                 module name
    fffff880`04896000 fffff880`0533d000   nvlddmkm T (no symbols)
        Loaded symbol image file: nvlddmkm.sys
        Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys
        Image name: nvlddmkm.sys

    latest driver release for Nvidia was March 25 you can update the driver from here: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

    I also noticed a lot of NTFS errors so please run the system file checker to help clear up any file system corruption:

    SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
    Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
    At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
    In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
    If the command finishes with anything other than "no integrity violations found" run the command two more times.
    If after the third run of the sfc command there are still integrity violations follow this tutorial to run the command at boot: SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

    Thanks for your help. I updated my video card drivers, so we'll see how that works. I also ran the scan twice and both produced no errors.

    I'll come back if the problems persist. Thanks again.

    Unfortunately I've had a BSOD memory dump and a freeze within the last day. Are there other scans I should run?

    Can you Upload the new dump files so I can see what the cause of the BSOD was?

    Scratch that I went looking through your other set of files and found this:

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    looking at the driver at fault we can see it is very old:

    Had to do some googling to find out what this belongs to but apparently it belongs to pinical systens video software:

    http://systemexplorer.net/file-datab...64-sys/1214741

    try updating this software, and see if that solves the problem.

    Sorry for not replying. Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it. And it looks like that driver may have been the culprit. I uninstalled the driver since it's only for a device I use on occasion when I boot into XP and there is no update. I haven't had a problem since.
