Random BSOD on new W7 installation: IRQL Error

Thanks Arc. I ran msconfig and unchecked all the startup items except for Windows Security and Windows Operating System. I then ran the TDSSKiller which didn't find anything, and then the Windows Defender Offline which, again, didn't find anything (took almost 3 hours!). Also uninstalled PCTools Spyware Doctor.

I've rebooted and am now running a video conversion using Cineform Studio, which previously caused a BSOD and will report back if I get another BSOD. If I don't get any BSOD how do we go about identifying which startup application is causing the conflict (assuming of course that it's one of those apps which is causing the conflict and the BSOD)?

Simon, frankly speaking, in your thread and in another thread, I was dealing with Stop 0xD1, caused by NETIO.sys. The other one, I have transferred to another person, from whom I learn debugging, as I was unable to find out the reason.

If it works stable, I will accept it as enough improvement, frankly speaking.

You may have a look at that one, too. Software- or Configuration-related Crashes

Thanks Arc - I'll take a look at that thread. It seems to have stopped doing the BSOD, but now it has started just rebooting on its own - today it's done it twice in 30 mins. I've uploaded the diags zip file. Any ideas what it might be? Still the Ethernet adapter maybe?

The last BSOD was on 29.05.

Some things you should try to minimize the recent issue .....
Install an updated edition of Display Fusion. Or if your installed version is latest, uninstall and reinstall it.

Uninstall Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller in Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling to get rid of the leftovers.

Update AMD SATA Controller which is a part of AMD chipset drivers. AMD Chipset Drivers

Let us know the results.

Thanks Arc - I don't even have Display Fusion installed though? Are you seeing it as being installed? I don't need it - if it's hiding there, is there any way I can remove it?

The best thing you can do here is Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Follow all the steps to manage the drivers properly, just avoid Marvell :)

Thanks again. I ran Driver Sweeper and told it to clean the Marvel driver app. I rebooted but I can still see the Marvel driver app in the Driver Sweeper list, but when I click Clean it doesn't do anything. Is this correct?

I updated the AMD chipset drivers as you suggested, and then I went into the registry and deleted all the keys that had DisplayFusion in their name as that is a redundant app that I uninstalled ages ago.

Afraid I don't have the time right now to do a full reinstall on W7, but I'll let you know how I get on in the next few days now that we've made some changes.

Afraid it's still rebooting on its own despite doing what you suggested (except reinstalling W7 which it looks like I'm gonna have to do)

Look I found the Marvell site to be quite convoluted and this is the nearest I can get to a driver for your controller Marvell - Support - Driver Downloads

Now if you can find the right one out of tis lot then it is the best way to do drivers. I don't like "driver finders" personally preferring to go to the beast's home site.

One more thing is if you go to Giga for answers be prepared for a VERY long and involved heap of queries re numbers on the board and then you will need to be able to hold your breath for some time they are very long winded in replying.

A weak power supply or overheating are both common causes of spontaneous reboots as you describe.
Go to the Hardware part of your BIOS and find the voltages readings and post them.
Install Speccy - Download and post a snip of the overview window.

This is the preferred, best way to upload an image to a post.
