    BSOD: Driver power State Failure

    Hello,

    About 50% of the time that I shut down my PC, it freezes on the message "Shutting down" and after a while gives me a BSOD. I also get a BSOD every now and then when I'm browsing the web. I've ran the SF diagnostic tool and will post the results here.

    I also came across the following similar looking article:

    Driver power State Failure

    I would be extremely grateful if somebody could shed some light on the situation, I strongly believe that this is one of the main causes of my insomnia, after bankruptcy and alcoholism of course.

    All of your BSODs are being caused by your graphics driver:

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *

    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    Looking at the driver we can see it is very very old:

    Thanks a lot for the extremely quick response! Found the driver corresponding to my graphics card and downloading it as we speak. I'll repost in a week if the solution works out or worst case, at the next BSOD

    Once again I really appreciate the help!

    Hey,

    The solution seems to have partially worked, my PC has finally started shutting down appropriately :) Unfortunately, I just had another BSOD (the first since i updated the driver), this time while web browsing. Could you please give me any other suggestions, if available? I include the dump from the sf diagnostic tool.

    It appears that it is your display driver acting up this time:

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    Hey,

    Thanks once again for the quick response!

    Sorry to exhibit my ignorance but I'm not sure how to get the display driver.. all I can do is navigate to the graphics card drivers but i have already downloaded that. More worryingly, I just tried to access the nvidia control panel and it tells me that an nvidia graphics card was not detected on my system, even though i have a GT555M. Has my gpu fried itself or something?

    well, that is rather conscerning but, try uninstalling the graphics driver and then re-installing it:

    Navigate to the device manager by right clicking my computer and selecting manage

    from the device manager select display adapters

    Right click the display adapter named after your graphics card and select uninstall

    Reboot

    Run driver sweeper to make sure that he Nvidia display drivers are completely gone

    re-download and re-install the driver.

    reboot

    test and see if you get further blue screen problems.

    Hi,

    Started working towards that but all I see in display adapters is: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 and nothing named by my graphics card. Also, when I re-started my computer just now, on boot it seems like it switched off a couple of times and only managed to bring me to the first BIOS screen on the 3rd try (the fan and lights were going on and off the first 2 attempts).

    Might this be the end?

    P.S. Thanks for your continuous support.
