BSOD appearing at random, error 0x000000d1 - storport.sys

Computer has been running stable on Windows 7 Home Premium for about a month but just recently my computer will randomly throw a BSOD with error code 0x000000d1 caused by storport.sys driver.

I've made sure all of my drivers are up to date and have searched multiple forums but found no suggested fixes besides a hotfix for Windows Server 2003.

Thank you in advance for any help!

    Hi MusedRainfall welcome to SevenForums

Have you updated your bios to the current version of 4005 along with the storage driver ?

       Note
Read your manual on how to update the BIOS

No code has to be inserted here.

I updated the BIOS successfully but for some reason whenever I try to update the driver for Intel RST, my machine hangs at the windows logo when rebooting after install. I then have to restore back to before the driver update to boot up.

    Overclocking
If you are overclocking any hardware, STOP. Reset any changed values back to default.

       Warning
    • Start Menu\Programs\ASUS
    • Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AI Suite II

This is overclocking software and can lead to system instability and BSOD's. Please reset all components to their stock speeds and then remove the software.

    Revo Uninstaller
Download and install Revo Uninstaller free from here: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Opt for "Advanced Mode" and uninstall the software (also delete the leftover registry entries).

    Start up
Keep less stuff at the start-up. Only anti-virus, this helps avoid driver conflicts and improves time to log in to windows.
