BSOD -Random - different errors

Hi sevenforums team,

first of all thanks so much for being there, yours is an awesome work!

I´ve been having BSOD problems in my company (just in our Lenovos x220 and x230) recently and I have a dilemma now: would it be better if I cut my veins off or if I jump off the window? I´d appreciate your help on this.

In the meantime, I wanted to post an extraordinary case of an x220 (I saved System Specs) that gives continuolsy different BSOD errors. I´ve tried everything that is possible but user still reports (crash dump files give her the reason) that when listening to music (Spotify) it randomly restarts with a BSOD.

At the beggining it was clearly a video driver issue. That happened before with other x220 laptops in the company (those were solved). But after that, machine keeps crashing for some reason. Lenovo technicians have been here 2 times and motherboard have been replaced already 2 times. Memory checks doesn't show problems at all in every single test I've run with different utilities.

Last crash dump files showed the following:
Crash Dump Analysis
Crash dump directory: C:\Windows\Minidump

Crash dumps are enabled on your computer.

On Wed 22/05/2013 13:16:38 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\052213-23150-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntkrnlpa.exe (nt+0xDEC2C)
Bugcheck code: 0xC000021A (0xFFFFFFFF96D16E10, 0x0, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000001, 0x105F8)
Error: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This means that an error has occurred in a crucial user-mode subsystem.
There is a possibility this problem was caused by a virus or other malware.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntkrpamp.exe (nt!KeBugCheckEx+0x1E)

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: ntkrpamp.exe .
Google query: ntkrpamp.exe STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
After those, I've been trying to reproduce the error with Driver Verifier and BSOD shows up again after restart, this time with a POOL error...

Please see the attached zip file. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your 24/7 support.

When the BSOD occurs? During startup, or when the computer is in the running state?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply: ALWAYS in running state. Cannot verify for sure what was the laptop doing (its one of my users') but user reports that she's listening to music in Spotify whenever it happens.

Also: laptop is always attached to its docking station. It has its USB keyboard, mouse, headphones and a monitor. I've tried swapping all peripherals with no luck...

Ask them if they have installed any new hardware/software, remove it.
If they cannot tell it precisely, try to restore the system back to a point earlier than the issue started to begin.

It occurs due to reason that any third party software/hardware driver damages WinLogon or CSRSS. So the piece of program/hardware should be removed.

Let us know if you can find anything, talking with them. Debugging will not be much helpful in this situation, other than knowing the bugcheck code.

Thing is I have reinstalled the system myself many many times already. Laptop uses same Windows 7 Pro image as the rest of the users. Same for the software that's using. On the other hand: Lenovo has replaced the motherboard 2 times and I've also sent DUMP files to them so they can check themselves: they have no idea about what's going on (I'm sure next time I call them they'll replace it again).

Let me know please if there's anything else that I could post to track this issue.

If you reinstall windows following Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, and take card of the drivers as stated in step 9 onwards, I hope it will solve the issue.

Either install in each machine, or use sysprep to transfer the installation to other computer.

Ok, thanks. I'll try that and I'll post again with results.

Truth is I use to install drivers using Lenovo Update Utility.

On the other hand: rest of the x220 I have (Lenovo Drivers) are working fine right now...

Hi!

I performed a clean install in this laptop ensuring, driver by driver and using Verifier, that anything I added wasn't causing this BSOD.

This way I managed to find out that Ericsson Mobile Broadband card inside laptop was defective: if disabled on BIOS, everything went smooth. Lenovo test software didn't detect anything wrong with it.

This morning I received the replacement piece from Lenovo and after installing the new Ericsson card, BSOD dissapeared so far. I reproduced same tests than before and I didn't get any errors this time.

Thanks so much Arc and thanks to Sevenforums team also. Another one bites the dust!
