    BSOD playing EA cricket, after working in C++,error 0x116 atikmdag.sys

    I started to get 0x116 BSOD atikmdag.sys after turning on windows auto updates.
    I turned off the auto update and performed system restore.

    But couldn't fix the issue. Turned off auto restart on system failure. Then regularly i got the message ATI stopped responding and recovered.(But not the blue screen). Almost for three days.

    Yesterday, downloaded turbo c++ ide. There were some messages like "windows color scheme changed". Then after 10 mins the blue screen with 0x116 atikmdag.sys appeared. Yesterday itself I uninstalled the turbo C++ ide. But today while playing EA cricket again the same bsod appeared.

    I have no idea about the display drivers. Attached minidump. Help please.

    A couple of thoughts to start with:

    You do not have service pack 1 installed it contains a number of security and stability updates please install it:

    Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

    next it seems that your video card drivers are mostly at fault here, likely what happened is that windows installed an update that conflicts with your xp-era drivers:

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    Looking at the driver we can see that the drivers are so old that they actually pre-date windows 7 by a few months:

    Code:
    kd> lmvm atikmdag
    start    end        module name
    94800000 94c54000   atikmdag T (no symbols)

    I ve installed the latest amd driver. It is located in C:\Amd in my laptop.

    But C:\windows\system32\drivers\ have the old atikmdag.sys file in it.
    Need i replace it with C:\AMD\Support\13-1-legacy_vista_win7_win8_32_dd_ccc\Packages\Drivers\Display\W8_INF\B149756\ atikmdag.sys ?
