Computer freezing.. Lost trying to figure it out.

I have not installed anything recently, and have been getting computer problems like crazy. My computer freezes and I always get the same error. ''Hyper transport sync flood''

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 124
    BCP1: 0000000000000000
    BCP2: FFFFFA8007AD88F8
    BCP3: 0000000000000000
    BCP4: 0000000000000000
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\060313-22838-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Rich\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-29484-0.sysdata.xml

I tried a fresh install , updated all drivers (video, audio, bios) and it still happens.

The only new thing is a new pair of speakers (but this was happening before I changed my speakers)

I can't figure it out. Help please.

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

       Tip
Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try: Stop 124 Troubleshooting Strategy

I tried all those steps so I guess I have a faulty piece of hardware. Time for hours of trying to figure out which 1 is doing it.

    Edit:

After a few random other things I did the computer ''froze'' or ''hung'' for about 10 secs at one point today and then recovered and has had no problems since. I am running diagnostics on my WD hard drive, Prime95 and plan on doing MemTest later tonight.

If all of that passes is it safe to think it's either the video card / audio card or mother board? And is there any way to test if the video card is failing?

    EDIT:

After running MemTest, HDD testing stuff - Nothing failed. I reinstalled the computer again, and the second I installed my HT Omega Striker 7.1 (audio card) drivers the computer began doing this. I can't use the audio card without the driver. I made sure it was the Win7 64bit driver too. It's same to bet the audio card is to blame but I do not actually believe the card if failing, just something is wrong.

Is there a way to test audio cards to see if I can get a fault or error?

How many passes did you run MemTest86+ for? The only method to test a failing audio card, is to remove the device, and then see if the system crashes or not.

For testing the graphics card, then you may use this test - Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

I believe MEMTEST made it 10 before I turned it off. It was running for over 10 hours.

Edit: For testing the graphics card, how do I know if it's failing? Low FPS?

My video card is a Nvidia GeForce 460

Did you get any errors during the test?

Have you removed the audio card to test if that is the problem?

You will see screen distortions and artifacts whilst running the test.

Nothing happened during the video test, it passed. Audio card removed, computer crashed once using on board sound. So I guess that's not the problem either.

Did it pass the memory test too?

Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:

Find your hard-drive manufacturer and run their tests.

    Additional Tests:

Post a screenshot of Crystal Disk Info summary:

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.
Check for any file system errors and bad sectors using Option #2 of:

Use this command with Disk Check:

    Code:
    chkdsk C: /f /r

After trying all of these suggestions and other things I have tried I found out my CPU is dying. Went ahead and bought a new one and no problems so far. Thanks for all the help guys.
