Three are reasons to believe that the GPU is not functioning properly ... but is it really needed to enable direct 3D to play those games?

BTW, it is to watch how the GPU behaves with 320.49 WHQL.

Not 5 minutes after posting my last update, I got a BSOD with STOP 0101xxxxxxx error.
Direct3D (not DirectDraw - doh!) needed for BF3, which is about the only thing I was playing game-wise.

The Nvidia update put on 320.49WHQL, but seems to be the same issue as happening with previous versions. Even playing some of the games on FaceBook (yeah, I know) would get the game freezing, then carrying on aswell and sometimes getting a Flash or Shockwave error that I could continue through.

I see you mentioned enabling driver verifier earlier but do not see any recent dumps, please run the SF tool again and grab all and upload the output as before so we can see the latest dumps

I dont mean enable verifier again just run the tool and click grab all again and upload the files
Driver verifier enabled dumps often give extra clues to root causes :)

Ah - sorry! Excuse the noob

When it did BSOD on reboot (I've since done a system restore to get the PC operational), I managed to take a pic before it rebooted.

    Here's something weird though....

I have an account that my children use for themselves, and they don't seem to have any issues at all. Admitted that they are only playing online games in Firefox, but they don't/haven't suffered any of the issues that I have - no lock ups etc...

So, does that mean that the issue is within the software and my hardware could be OK?

A corrupt User profile can cause such an issue? I am not very sure. But if the observation holds good, a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 would be the best option for you.

Well, a full clean install onto a brand new HDD didn't work well either....... still getting BSOD, and same STOP code

    Must be hardware..
