USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER error 0x000000fe. SF Diagnostic Tool files included

    Hi everyone,

I have been having a random BSOD with this USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER error for about a month now and I've looked around on the internet and this forum trying to solve it on my own but I still can't figure it out. It all originated from when I used a usb cable to connect my phone to my laptop and it kept dropping the connection and reconnecting. I have since tossed that cable. Another possible culprit, recently I noticed that if I move my laptop screen sometimes my webcam becomes disconnected, but then immediately reconnects. Very odd; I am thinking about trying to disable or uninstall anything related to the webcam and seeing if that fixes the issue.

I can't do a system restore because unfortunately I don't have any from before the BSOD's.

Here is what I have tried so far:
Gone into Device Manager and manually uninstalled all USB controllers listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Used USBDeview to remove all old USB drivers
Ran a disk check and system file checker

The only thing I haven't tried so far is a complete wipe and re-install of the OS

I am attaching all .dmp files in a .zip file.

My worry is that it is a hardware issue which would be expensive to fix since my warranty ended a few months ago. I would greatly appreciate some advice/help.

EDIT: Also, my computer came with SP1 installed, so I don't think it is related to the binary files not being updated

EDIT2: Could someone explain to me how my laptop's battery life will be affected by turning off USB selective suspend, if necessary? Per this post BSOD frequently. ERROR: BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER, error 0x000000fe

EDIT3: Just read the forum instructions, here are all of the files provided by the SF_Diagnostic_Tool, minus the dmp files already provided

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.
Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Also, try to update the following:

    Let us know the results.

About USB selective suspend, it will not take much more battery charge if there is no USB devices connected. And if the other troubleshooting can give it a cure, Disabling it might not be needed as an emergency. For everything, the crash dump is needed to be analyzed.

    Thanks for the reply Arc!

The crash dump files are included in the minidump.zip file attached to the first post. I removed them from the diagnostic utility zip file because I had already manually found them and uploaded them before I discovered the forum utility. Looking back I should have just kept them in the report. Sorry for any confusion.

The Citrix and the USB 3.0 drivers were up to date, I have never used any USB to Serial adaptor so I don't know if that's the issue, never used the card reader either. When I get a chance later today I will update those two.

Checked the dumps. It is HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter that is causing the issue.
    Code:
    fffff880`20a67c58 fffff880`016412ceUnable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\hpdskflt.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for hpdskflt.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for hpdskflt.sys
     hpdskflt+0x22ce
I guess it will be the best if you perform a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 . It will be the easiest way to get rid of all those unwanted and problematic stuff.

    Alright thanks!!

Could you tell me how you found this? I have BlueScreenView installed but I can't find this error message anywhere. I would like to learn how you located this so I can do a better job figuring these things out on my own.

Before I reinstall the OS, I am going to try installing an updated version of HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection, as mine is an older version. If that doesn't fix it then will reinstall.
